Gearbox Software revealed tons of new content that is on the way Borderlands 4with paid and free content coming next week, as well as teasing the second DLC vault hunter known as Loveless coming in September. It's been a busy 2026 so far for Gearbox and its Borderlands 4 content, as the company released both Bounty Pack 2 and its first major Story expansion earlier this year, introducing the game's first post-launch vault hunter named C4SH.
While Borderlands 4 appeared to be off to a fast start when it released in September 2025, one of the biggest criticisms of the game was a prolonged content and update drought, one that the Horrors of Kairos mini-event failed to fill. Coupled with technical issues, player frustration over popular ability geeks, and a declining number of players, things weren't looking good. But things have seemingly turned around thanks to a revised Borderlands 4 post-launch roadmap, which saw Bounty Pack 1 not only arrive earlier than expected, but completely free. From there, Gearbox has continued to add more content and players now have even more to look forward to starting next week.
Borderlands 4 releases A Zane To Kill For on June 25th
In a new blog post, Gearbox laid out its plans for next week and revealed two major post-launch content updates starting on June 25th. First up is Bounty Pack 3, a paid content pack called A Zane to Kill For, which takes players to a digital world to find out who killed Zane's Digi-Clone. As the trailer reveals, players will explore a neon-drenched noir-style city with Zane's personal arcade machine called Private Dick, and battle new Glitched enemies that can switch places during a fight to keep vault hunters on their toes.

Of course, players will have plenty of things to hunt in this content as well. Bounty Pack 3 introduces a brand new Pearlescent weapon and 6 new pieces of legendary loot, along with Vault Hunter skins, a vehicle and cosmetics for ECHO-4. The Bounty Pack also continues with the Vault Card system Borderlands 4allows players to complete challenges and earn cosmetics and 4 “rerollable” pieces of legendary gear.
A day later on June 26, Borderlands 4 will release a free content update called Takedown at Hadron Abyss. This is designed to be an end game challenge, like Borderlands 4s Bloomreaper the Invincible raid. In this content, however, players will explore a new zone called the Hadron Abyss, a sunken lab that is slowly crumbling and houses the zone's boss, the Child of Terramorphous. There will be no farming sites here and spawn points are few and far between, so players must work together to overcome Borderlands 4hardest content yet. Of course, there are plenty of new weapons and gear to hunt down, and for those who want even more of a challenge, there are different challenge levels that can be activated to scale up enemy health and damage.

Additionally, version 1.8 also allows players to purchase DLC in two different ways. Instead of an all-or-nothing approach, Borderlands 4 players can purchase Bounty Pack 3: A Zane to Kill For separately from the Vault Card 3 DLC. Both are $5.99 each and Gearbox intends to do this for future DLC packs going forward as well. Gearbox is also investigating a similar approach to the previously released one Borderlands 4 DLC, but there are no concrete plans yet.
But these two pieces of content weren't the only big reveal either. Similar to how Gearbox revealed C4SH almost 6 months in advance for Borderlands 4the studio has also revealed the second character post-launch. Loveless, Hacker will launch alongside Story Pack 2 in September, and according to Gearbox, she's a former Anshin hacker turned assassin. While details are still a little thin, Loveless has a kit that includes cybernetic-style weapons, as well as a digital worm-like virus that she shares her thoughts with. All in all, it sounds like Loveless will offer fans plenty of variety when she launches in a few months.
