Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is the second part of Boruto series, which steadily takes the world of the ninja towards its ultimate destruction. In the midst of it all, Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha are two quintessentially important characters that we're all eagerly waiting to see back in action. At the end of Boruto Part 1, both Naruto and Sasuke were significantly nervous in different ways. While Naruto was sealed away by Kawaki, Sasuke Uchiha was revealed to have been transformed into a tree by Code during the time jump.
But thanks to the new arc of Boruto: Two Blue Vortexwhich officially began on May 20, 2026 and continued with another chapter release on June 18, 2026, in V-jump Issue #8, the return of these legendary figures is now closer than ever before. With the return of Naruto and Sasuke comes their biggest challenge since fighting Isshiki Otsutsuki 6 years ago, and that is to gain even greater strength and once again become relevant in the power scaling of this highly competitive universe.
Boruto's new arc officially charts the dead end for Naruto and Sasuke
Boruto officially marked the end of the Mamushi Arc on April 20, 2026, in V-Jump Issue #6, and in the following month, on May 20, 2026, in V-Jump #7, the series officially marked the beginning of a new arc. This month, June 18, 2026, this new arc continued with another chapter. In Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 35, it was officially confirmed that the new arc will put a lot of focus on Hidari and his growing bond with Jura. As such, Shinju Hidari is officially set to be the main villain in this new arc. With Hidari lined up as the main enemy, the return of Sasuke Uchiha is officially on the cards. The legendary Uchiha, who has been absent from the Boruto series for over 3 years now, is just months away from returning.
“Mamushi has died. Driven by his instinct, he gave in to his desires and ended up being burned out. As twisted as it was, this was also a form of love.” — Jura confirms that Mamushi died in the new arc, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #35
As soon as Hidari falls, his Thorn Soul Bulb, which carries the essence of the user, will be taken by Boruto and Sarada, and can then potentially be used to free Sasuke Uchiha almost immediately. With Sasuke's return, the path to Naruto Uzumaki's return also officially opens. This is something that we are eagerly waiting to see, as we have spent years in the absence of these legendary characters that we have grown up watching, and finally they will play a significant role in the story again.

Boruto officially powers up The 5 Kage after 15 years
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex officially allows the 5 Kage to level up their skill after their underwhelming performance in the 4th Great Ninja War.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex challenges Naruto and Sasuke to gain new strength after returning
While Boruto: Two Blue Vortex already paved the way for the return of both Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha, an even bigger problem arises when you consider that they are weaker than before. Both Naruto and Sasuke lost their Six Paths Powers in the battle against Isshiki Otsutsuki in Boruto Chapters 54 and 55, and are thus limited in what they can do in battle. Although their base strength seems to have improved drastically, Naruto and Sasuke need new sources of power, and this will be their biggest challenge in the new story.
Shikamaru: Naruto, you can't keep this transformation for long, can you?
Naruto: Don't worry! My Sage Mode is much better than before. Call it a gift of wisdom.
— Naruto Uzumaki reveals his new power to Sage Mode, Boruto Chapter #64
Sasuke Uchiha only has access to his Mangekyo Sharingan, and ideally he would need something even stronger. Similarly, Naruto only has access to his Sage Mode, and even he would need a major upgrade to grow in strength further. This is one of the biggest challenges that Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has set for these hugely important characters, and one that we'll be excited to see them take on as it can only result in them growing further in strength.
Interestingly enough, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has already officially confirmed that Sasuke Uchiha is significantly stronger after the time jump, despite losing the Six Paths Powers. This is due to his training with Boruto Uzumaki, and through Sasuke's new power level, we can be sure that Naruto will also return with an upgraded overall power level.
“During their training together to become stronger, Boruto and Sasuke's main sources of food were fish and wild birds, which they hunted with Raiton and Shuriken, along with wild plants and mushrooms.” — Mikio Ikemoto confirms Sasuke's start, Boruto Volume #8
That said, we'd also absolutely love to see new weapons added to their arsenal. For Naruto, a new connection to the tailed beasts of the world would be sensational for all of us to witness, or a new power gained through a fight with Jura would also be fun for us to see. For Sasuke Uchiha, the ability of the Mangekyo Sharingan to be taken to a whole new level, or perhaps reconnecting with Orochimaru for additional strength, would be quite exciting to see.

Naruto Manga is gearing up for a big day on July 5 in surprise update
Naruto fans are in for a big surprise as the series prepares for a big reveal in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #32.
Why Naruto and Sasuke will be the official strongest again
Regardless of how creators Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto go about it, Naruto and Sasuke will return stronger than ever in Two Blue Vortex, and that's something we're excited to see. At the end of the day, the enemies in the Boruto series are only getting stronger, and Konoha needs its best of the best to stand at the forefront and defend it. In that sense, Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha have a very important role to play Boruto series towards the end, and hopefully they'll have new abilities up their sleeves when the need arises.
“I am the Hokage of the village. It is my responsibility to protect every single one of my people.” — Naruto Uzumaki explains his role to Kawaki, Boruto Chapter #65
For now, we patiently await the return of Sasuke Uchiha, who is the first in line to make a comeback in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex at the end of the Hidari arc. After this arc, the focus will once again be on the Seventh Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki, and hopefully his return won't be too far away. With that, Boruto officially enters its final segment, where the battle between Boruto Uzumaki and Kawaki, which was officially teased in the May 16, 2016 epilogue, will finally take place.
