Every Sim dreams of winning a Starlight Accolade award in The Sims 4: Get Famous expansion, but actually do which has been somewhat shrouded in mystery – being nominated is tough, and winning is even tougher. Winning a Starlight Accolade means giving a speech and having your moment in the spotlight, apparently as long as Judith Ward isn't in the building.

All sorts of Starlight Accolade Awards

There are a few ways for your Sims to earn Starlight Accolade nominations, but the five general categories include Best Acting, Best Song, Best Painting, Best Video, and Best Book.

The is some other awards exist, but only city sims can take these crowns. These are Starlight Accolades for “being a nice sim,” a “110 Percent Starlight Accolade” award, and also one for “the outstanding fashion achievement of wearing really tight pants that look REALLY good and aren't constricting at all, but we all hope you can still breathe.”

Preparation for success

Give yourself the best possible chance

There are several ways to start a sim with the best chance of getting awards. First, you can be careful about the properties you create them with. Confident Sims are the best actors, so traits like Self-Assured will give them some much needed confidence boosts. Other traits such as Outgoing give boosts to building up the Charisma skill. Other good qualities can be Creative, Ambitious and Hot-Headed (if you want to make a diva).

But other reinforcements can also be found. If your sims parents are famous, it gives a boost to fame, which can be useful for getting into places to get more fame. Being a celebrity is a mini-game in itself, and every little bit helps when trying to win the coveted Starlight Accolade prizes.

Improve the quality of your Sim's work

Start on the road

Generally speaking, the higher the value of a Sim's work – whether it's a book, video, painting, or even a gig – the better their chances of being nominated. This is especially true for writers – certain genres or techniques can also give sims an edge, like writers who seem to have better chances of nominations with Mystery or Science Fiction. Either way, a masterpiece of some kind dramatically increases your chances.

Novels must be sold directly to publishers and paintings to collectors. Actors have the best chance for a nomination by earning gold from a film gig, and songwriters should license their songs, regardless of the instrument they use. Genre doesn't seem to matter to video producers, but quality definitely does.

Don't miss the event – or you'll miss out on the prize

It's an honor just to be nominated…

Nominated Sims will be notified within a week of the event, so keep an eye on the notification bar at the top right of the UI. If Seasons is installed, awards ceremonies will also appear in the calendar. If a Sim misses the event, they will have zero chance of winning a prizeso be sure to show up – on time!

Until the event, however, feel free to play as you normally would – you don't need to prepare anything in advance, unless you want to go into Create-a-Sim and change into their formal attire for the big occasion.

Make the perfect place

The Starlight Accolade Award ceremonies always take place at Studio PBP in Del Sol Valley. Since this lottery has the Hottest Spot in Town feature, Sims will not normally be able to enter unless they are at least B-list celebrities or in a group with a celebrity who can get them in. Clicking the velvet rope (to adjust entry requirements) also works.

Renovating the grounds is fine, as long as there is at least one microphone and enough chairs to accommodate the nominees and guests. You can add a new venue if you want the ceremony to take place elsewhere, but make sure it's a Lounge location with the Hottest Spot in Town trait. After a change of location, it may take a few days or weeks for the ceremonies to start happening again, but they will eventually start working as normal.

Come to the ceremony early, but don't For Early

The ceremony technically starts at Thankfully, during the award days, all nominated Sims will be allowed in, regardless of their celebrity status.

If you forget to go over early, you'll also get a notification when the event starts. If your sim comes for early, however, the bouncer may make them wait a while before entering the room (unless the sim is already a B-list).

If you win, click “Accept Number” ASAP

Unfortunately, actually winning an award is mostly down to luck – some Simmers win awards without trying, while others go weeks earning gold from acting gigs with no luck at the ceremony. The more high level celebrity sims present, the less likely the active sim will actually win.

If you see the notification that your Sim has won, click the microphone immediately and select “Accept Speech” as soon as you can! You must do this before the next Sim receives their award, otherwise, even if your Sim wins, they will not have the trophy in their inventory. Some Simmers recommend having two microphones in the ceremony area, to make sure you don't get cut off.

Success at any cost

If all else fails, a Gold-ranked Celebrity Meet & Greet event will give your Sim a Starlight Accolade, although it looks a little different – the Celebrity Meet & Greet version has a globe in the middle instead of two palm trees.

However, they basically look the same from a distance, so Sims could always just pretend they won a legitimate prize, even if they didn't. After all, there is always time!
