Pokémon GO has revealed its plans for December's Community Day, the final edition of the event in 2024. Community Day is a recurring event on Pokémon GO calendar, known for having a pocket monster and offering other perks to players. At the end of the year, the augmented reality game takes a trip down memory lane with a special Community Day in December.

Niantic opened 2024 with Rowlet, Chansey, and Litten as Community Day Pokémon for January, February, and March. For Grass-type fans, April and May had Bellsprout and Bounsweet, with Goomy, Tynamo and Popplio in the June, July and August editions of the event. September's Community Day was special, as it featured Ponyta and its regional variant, followed by Sewaddle and Mankey, which appeared in October and November.

Pokemon GO announces the first part of the Holiday event, detailing the bonuses and Pokemon that will be available in the coming weeks.

Now, Pokémon GO has revealed plans for December's Community Day, which will run from 21-22 December from 2pm to 5pm local time. Each day, a selection of Pokémon will be available, with Rowlet and five other pocket monsters appearing on December 21st. Meanwhile, Ponyta, Galarian Ponyta and four other animals will appear on December 22nd. During the last 10 minutes of each hour, Niantic will increase the spawn of Porygon, Cyndaquil, Bagon and Beldum. As with others Pokémon GO event, players can expect bonuses such as double XP and Candy when catching Pokemon, and longer duration Lure modules.

  • New Timed Research, Community Day Continued Timed Research, Field Research, Stickers and PokeStop Showcases will be available.

Event bonuses


  • 2× XP for catching Pokemon.
  • 2× Stardust to catch Pokemon.
  • 1/2 hatch distance when eggs are placed in incubators during the event period.
  • 2× candies for catching Pokemon.
  • 2x chance for Trainers level 31 and up to get Candy XL from catching Pokemon.
  • Lure modules activated during the event will last for three hours.
  • Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last for three hours.
  • An additional special deal can be made, for a maximum of two per day.*
  • Trades made during the event will require 50% less Stardust.*

*While most bonuses are only active on December 21st and 22nd from 14:00 to 17:00 local time, these bonuses will be active from 9:00 to 21:00 local time on those days.

By hatching 2 km eggs in Pokémon GO during the event, players will have the chance to get monsters from a reward pool that includes Slowpoke, Togepi and Wooper. Players who level up with the Pokemon featured on Community Day will receive an evolution with a specific fast or charged attack. Timed Research and Continued Timed Research will be available, the latter rewarding Pokemon encounters with a special background. The event will also feature new Field Research, Showcases, and 2024 Community Days stickers that players can get by spinning PokeStops, opening gifts, or purchasing in the in-game store.


With the unveiling of Pokémon GO December Community Day plans, players await details on Holiday Part 2, New Year's 2025 and Charged Embers Hatch Day events. Meanwhile, other events are already confirmed and will start or end in the next few days, such as the debut of Gigantamax Lapras on December 8th. Aspiring Dragons Research Day ends on December 12th, while the Genesect Chill Drive returns to Pokémon GO in the Young and wise event on December 10.
