Jason Zumwalt, the voice behind Grand Theft Auto 4's Roman Bellic, would “love” to see the rumored remaster become a reality, and really doesn't know why Rockstar hasn't done it yet.
Even though the whole world is eagerly waiting for some kind of update of the long-awaited GTA 6, it is far from everything that the fans want to see from the series. Almost as in demand is a proper remaster (it's definitely not like the definitive edition of the original trilogy) of Grand Theft Auto 4, the black sheep of the entire series.
To be fair, that request is one based on plenty of reports and rumors claiming that Rockstar is indeed working on some sort of port or remaster of GTA 4, albeit one that seemingly isn't coming anytime soon with GTA 6 on the horizon. However, it's not just the fans who want to see it, as the voice behind Roman Bellic has shared his support as well.
Jason Zumwalt wants a GTA 4 remaster as much as we do
“I don't know why they haven't”
Earlier this week, Instagram account loveitfilm shared a clip from its interview with Jason Zumwalt, who played Roman Bellic in Grand Theft Auto 4. In the clip, Jamie Lovett asks Zumwalt about a potential remaster of GTA 4 and whether he would be interested in seeing it come to life, given his previous involvement with the game.
Zumwalt responded by saying that he would “love” a GTA 4 remaster, and that he's not sure why Rockstar hasn't done it already since it feels like they have the perfect chance. Zumwalt goes on to speculate that it may have something to do with the game's SAG contract, and that Rockstar may not be willing to “open the can of worms”.
Whether that's why a GTA 4 remaster hasn't happened yet, Zumwalt went on to say that both he and Hollick were brought back for the game's DLC, so it likely hasn't left a massive impact on GTA 4. Roman's actor also said he doesn't think he's biased when he says GTA 4 has the best story in the game, because there's so much more to the series.
Of course, Zumwalt's support for a GTA 4 remaster won't have much of an impact on whether or not it actually happens since Rockstar is very much marching to the beat of their own drum, but it's interesting to see someone involved in the game clamoring for it to happen as well. I guess we'll just have to wait and see for GTA 6 to finally launch.
