5 Strongest Video Game Mages Who Destroy Sung Jin-woo

Confirmed to be heading to Anime Expo 2026, Solo Leveling: Karma will mark Sung Jin-woo's grand return when it debuts in 2026. Be it manhwa, anime, or games, Solo Levelings unprecedented success secured the magical hunter's place in pop culture, and Sung is generally ranked as one of the most powerful characters in all of fiction. Even if we limit things to just anime Sung Jin-woothe summoner destroys most characters in a direct fight… however, some of the game's mages have Sung's number, or at least his anime version's.

At the end of Season 2, Sung approaches god-like status, surpassing all S-Rank Hunters to reach national-level territory. He's as strong as a military nation, but he's nowhere near ready to challenge the game's top warriors like God of wars Kratos and Devil May Crys Dante, both of which would send Sung into the Shadow Realm. But if we look strictly at the realm of video game wizards, things get a lot more interesting. Sung makes the likes of Dragon AgeMorrigana's Morrigana looks like a witch learning her first spells, and the same can be said for most of the characters. That said, a couple of video game magicians are levels above anime Sung.

Yuna Out Summons Sung

• Strongest Traits: Yojimbo's Zanmato (Insta-Kill)
• Mage class: Summoner & Healer (White Mage)
• Would it be a melee? Unless Yuna uses Yojimbo's Zanmato, Sung puts up an admirable fight.
• Can Anime Sung beat Fluke? If he catches Yuna from a distance, then yes. He has to fight dirty to win.
• Manhwa Sung: Easy win for Sung.

Probably the closest fight discussed in this article, FF10's Yuna doesn't always feel like a world champion in action, a common problem with powerful mages who can't be allowed to show their full strength consistently throughout gameplay. Still, her skills match Sung's well, as she is also a cold mage who is not rendered useless without her summon. As a white mage, Yuna uses decent offensive and great defensive spells, both of which give her a wider range of movement than Sung.

In the end, this battle comes down to their calling, and Yuna's army consists of god-like beings far beyond the current level of Sung's shadows. The latter rely entirely on Sung's infinite mana pool to regenerate, and he uses them more as a vanguard than a nuclear weapon. When Yuna summons an Aeon, her allies disappear knowing they won't get in the way. Sung would likely lose to Yuna's basic elemental summons like Valefor, Shiva, and Bahamut; but if he somehow survives, he would have to deal with even stronger summons like Anima and the Magus Sisters. That's before we even mention Yojimbo and his Zanmato; if Yuna manages to summon and then pay Yojimbo enough Gil, he unleashes an ultimate technique that insta-kills anyone, regardless of their immunity, magic shields, physical durability, or mechanics. Sung would not be an exception.

• Would it be a melee? No.
• Can Anime Sung Fluke Win? Anime Sung cannot counter Bayonetta's time manipulation. Stealth wouldn't even work in this case.
• Manhwa Sung: Yes, Manhwa Sung wins this fight.

Now, here's a fight I'd love to see animated. Sung may not care about looking good while destroying enemies, but his fights tend to be bombastic; conversely, Bayonetta can't help but inject style into every single encounter, and she would bring out the best in Jin-woo. She also wins easily.

Basically an assassin, Sung's blinding Quicksilver speed allows him to get the drop on most enemies who aren't quite familiar with his game. This move wouldn't pay off against Bayonetta, who would avoid triggering Witch Time, slowing Sung's hyper-speed attacks to a comical degree. At that point, Sung would be completely vulnerable to the Umbra witch, especially if we're talking about the cutscene Bayonetta.

To give anime Sung a chance, let's say both characters decide to fight from a distance, casting shadows against infernal demons or evil weaves. Again, Bayonetta uses a much stronger set of summons than Sung's Iron or Tank, and she uses the likes of Gomorrah whenever she wants in the third game in the series. Even if we limit her moveset to the first game, Bayonetta's Climax Summons would destroy Sung's anime shadows.

Queen Azshara's power on the planet overwhelms the nation-level Sung

Even more so than Yuna, Queen Azshara's playability as the Eternal Palace raid boss in no way reflects her post-apocalyptic threat status in World of Warcrafts lore. Wow understands this discrepancy by explaining that players not only fight her when her cosmic powers are bound, but she also lets them win, suggesting that she basically just put everyone along.

Azshara is the single most powerful mage in Azeroth, and she would absolutely dominate anime Sung Jin-woo. The difference is so great that it would be a straight squash match. Even before she reached her peak strength and became a naga, Azshara's arcane mastery was already feared by incredibly powerful demons. After N'Zoth turned her into a naga, Azshara's strength was further enhanced, putting her on the level of the gods and raising her to a planetary level of power. In the anime, Sing is nation level. At one point, Azshara held back an entire ocean's worth of tsunami to protect her kingdom, a display of her defensive arcane powers that far surpasses anything Sung accomplishes in the anime.

Just to be clear, the above doesn't remotely cover all of Azshara's abilities, as we didn't even touch on her Void magic, mind-altering aura, and Arcane magic's influence over the order of things.

Endgame Kefka Ascends To Godhood, A Road Sung Still Travels

• Would it be a melee? Not even remotely.
• Can Anime Sung Fluke Win? No. He doesn't have the tools.
• Manhwa Sung: Manhwa Sung would be on par with Kefka, although he's not guaranteed to win either.

In the anime, Sung fights monsters or hunters who mostly follow logical battle patterns. They wield weapons, cast spells and rely on brute force. Don't get me wrong, he defeats plenty of impressive foes, but none of them break the laws of reality. After absorbing the power of the Warring Triad, FF6's Kefka becomes the literal god of magic; he goes from casting spells to using the fabric of existence as a playground.

At its peak, Kefka's magic deals not only physical or elemental damage, but rather deals with non-existence. Spells that Abandoned manipulate the literal void, and Kefka becomes the source of all magic in the universe. Kefka could make it so Sung can't use his infinite pool of mana to recreate shadows. Even if the hunter brings out all of his shadows, a “win by overwhelming numbers” approach would not be successful, and they would be easily obliterated by Kefka's Light of Judgment. In the anime, Sung also hasn't fought anyone as inherently evil or, frankly, crazy as Kefka.

Endgame Minä makes Sung look like a level 1 mage

Don't be fooled by retro 2D images, NoitaThe main character might be the most broken playable mage in all of gaming, if not all of fiction. IN Noitamagic works just like a highly volatile programming language. Instead of learning specific spells, you find and customize magical wands by inserting individual “code components” that trigger chaotic chain reactions.

With the right configuration and modifiers, you can create spells with absolutely insane effects; for example, you might end up firing a single spell that spawns a bunch of black holes. By the endgame, Minä basically becomes a nuclear weapon capable of destroying the entire world (which you can do in Noitasince every pixel is simulated). Minä's biggest weakness is the lack of immunity to their own attacks, so they can end up killing themselves and taking out anime Sung at the same time. That's the only way the hunter would have any chance of hitting Noitas OP MC.
