Deltarune Chapter 5 Release Date Finally Announced

Thanks to the Nintendo Direct showcase on June 9, Deltarune Chapter 5 has finally been revealed to be released on June 24, 2026. Originally launched in 2018, Delta rune has grown into one of the most successful indie RPGs in gaming. Developed by Toby Fox, the creator of Undertalethe game follows Kris, Susie and Ralsei as they travel between the light and dark worlds while uncovering a larger mystery surrounding the Dark Fountains and a looming prophecy.

The first two Delta rune chapters are available for free and launched in 2018 and 2021 respectively, while Chapters 3 and 4 came as part of the paid release in 2025. Since then, fans have been closely following development updates in anticipation of the next installment in the series, which will ultimately have seven chapters. Although Toby Fox provided frequent updates on the status of Deltarune Chapter 5, there was never a definite release date until now.

Deltarune Chapter 5 is launching sooner than you think

On June 9, during the Nintendo Direct showcase, Toby Fox finally revealed the release date for the next, highly anticipated installment of the RPG series. Deltarune Chapter 5 will launch sooner than many expected, on June 24, 2026, for the original Nintendo Switch console and Switch 2, as well as PC, PS4 and PS5. It will be launched as a free update for current owners of the Delta rune across supported platforms. The release date announcement was accompanied by a trailer that showcased additional gameplay, new environments, battles, and story sequences from the upcoming chapter.

Delta rune has been widely praised for its writing, music, characters, and unique combat system. Unlike undertale, which takes place in a parallel universe, Delta rune plays more like a regular turn-based RPG and includes a party system, magic and special abilities. The game also expands on some things that fans of Undertale found something missing: exploration, puzzles and mini-games. The episodic RPG also has a much longer playtime than its predecessor, taking only 7 to 12 hours to complete. While it will take some time to come out, the seven chapters will take longer to hit, with the first four already clocking in at just over 16 hours.

With Chapter 5s release date now confirmed, attention will soon turn to the final two chapters of Delta rune. But before that happens, Nintendo Switch 2 owners will have plenty to keep them busy. The Nintendo Direct presentation on June 9 offered plenty of exciting announcements for gamers, especially for fans of RPGs. Besides Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, Final Fantasy Resonance coming in October 2026 with retro-inspired HD-2D graphics, as well as a new entry in Xenoblade series coming in 2027. Fans also got a new glimpse of the upcoming and long awaited Kingdom Hearts 4although there is still no confirmed release date.
