Switch users have until May 25th to get $65 worth of horror games for just $5

Horror game The sinking city is currently available for around $5 on Nintendo Switch eShop, thus offering nearly $60 in savings. The offer is part of a larger publisher sale that also includes deep discounts on several other Switch titles.

Developed by Ukrainian studio Frogwares, The sinking city is an action horror game with strong Lovecraft influences. Set in the 1920s, it casts players as private detectives trying to get to the bottom of a mysterious curse that has engulfed Oakmont, a fictional fishing town in eastern Massachusetts. The sinking city was met with mixed reviews upon release in 2019, largely due to its slow combat and technical issues, some of which were addressed via post-launch updates. Nevertheless, the game was widely praised for its open-world design, immersive mission structure with minimal hand-holding, and rich world-building drawing from HP Lovecraft's extensive works.

8 Best Lovecraftian Games on Nintendo Switch

Fans of Lovecraftian horror and surreal vibes have some solid options on the Nintendo Switch. Here are the best games to dive into cosmic horror.

The Sinking City: Deluxe Edition hits lowest price ever on Nintendo Switch eShop

In early May 2026, the Nintendo Switch version of the The Sinking City: Deluxe Edition available at a 92% discount. The deal brings the open-world horror game down to $5.19, which equates to $59.80 in savings and marks its lowest price ever on Nintendo consoles. Switch owners have until May 25 at 2:59 a.m. ET to take advantage of the price drop. The discount is part of a wider Frogwares sale featuring nine eShop deals on games, packs and DLC.

All Nintendo Switch deals from Frogware's eShop sale

While the sale technically only includes the Deluxe Edition of The Sinking City with all its DLC, it's possible to get the base game at a discount by purchasing the so-called Lovecraftian Bundle, which combines it with Frogware's disturbing adventure game Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened. The bundle is currently available for $7.49, 90% off the regular price. However, since the Deluxe Edition cannot be added to the base game and the individual DLCs are not currently discounted, players looking for a rich experience are better off purchasing the two games separately.

Although it was not launched to universal acclaim, The sinking city is now worth revisiting as a distinctly Lovecraftian detective game whose atmosphere, open-ended exploration, and eerie city design still give it a distinct identity. That's without even taking into account its deep price cut, which makes it a tempting proposition for any fan of atmospheric horror games.

Although Frogwares remastered The sinking city In 2025, the enhanced version of the game is not available on Nintendo Switch. The Unreal Engine 5-powered remaster could theoretically run on the Switch 2, but there's currently no indication that a version for Nintendo's latest console is in development. As for the ongoing eShop discount on The sinking cityit's available until May 25, while most of the other price cuts in Frogware's current sale are shorter, ending on either May 11 or May 18, depending on the product.
