Resident Evil has largely been in the works for the past few years, with both the remastered games and the new arrivals receiving much praise and selling well. Given their success, and the recent revelation of Resident Evil: Veronica comes as a remake of the classic Code: Veronica fans are curious about what else the future of the remake will hold for the franchise, which led to this recently revealed tidbit.

Resident Evil Requiem, Veronica and Zero are tied together

Resident Evil leaker Dusk Golem has shared a new piece of information about what's to come Resident Evil remakes, including Resident Evil: Veronica and Resident Evil Zerowith the latter of the two yet to be confirmed by Capcom. Dusk Golem responded to a claim that the entire franchise is being remade with the intention of restructuring the story, saying that is not true. However, they hinted at it Resident Evil: Veronica and a Zero remake would tie into Resident Evil: Requiembut it largely depends on the development process. Resident Evil: Veronica, Resident Evil Requiemand the rumours Resident Evil Zero remake were all said to be being worked on at the same time, leading to this connection, which was further reinforced by Requiems story and its myriad of Easter eggs that reference the past Resident Evil game.

That being said, there was some unfortunate news for those fans hoping for Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 remakes. Dusk Golem indicates that remakes of these games are not in development, and that there is reportedly no current internal plan to do so. They also note that there isn't an overarching plan to redo every play in the game Resident Evil series up to Resident Evil 7because Capcom takes the process one step at a time. However, they expect that if the sales of the upcoming remakes perform as well as Resident Evil 2 remake did that RE 5 and 6 will likely join the list of remakes somewhere down the road.

Of course, as with all leaks, these claims should be taken with a grain of salt. But earlier rumors about Resident Evil shared by Dusk Golem have been accurate, including denying claims that Chris and Ada would play a role Resident Evil Requiemand indicates that Code: Veronica would receive a remake announcement in 2026. With that in mind, Dusk Golem stated before the official reveal that Code: Veronica remake would be released in 2027, and claims that Zero will follow in 2028, with a brand new game, Resident Evil 10launching in 2029. With that in mind, all remakes of Resident Evil 5 or 6 will likely be many years from now.

If the rumors turn out to be true, fans of the survival horror series should have a lot to look forward to over the course of the next few years. With a 2027 release, it will be interesting to see how Resident Evil: Veronica handles story changes and expansions, including the alleged ties to Resident Evil Requiem.
