Gate gas D. Ace

• Yonko Challenged: Whitebeard

Ace started his journey at a very young age and quickly made a name for himself. He was offered the position of warlord over the sea, but he declined, as his ambitions were much greater than that. His goal was to become the strongest pirate in the world, and he decided to do so by going after Whitebeard himself. When Yonko was in front of him, Ace didn't back down. He challenged him and lost. It was the first of many times he was defeated by Whitebeard.

Gecko Moria

Moria, in her prime, was a force to be reckoned with and a very powerful pirate who stood up to Kaido. He fought and lost a battle against Yonko. At the same time, his crew was killed, which affected him deeply and changed his view of crew members. It has not been explicitly specified what or how this happened, but one thing is for sure, Moria never really recovered from that loss.

Eustace Kid

• Yonko Challenged: Redhead Shafts

Kid is a cold-hearted, fearless pirate who entered the new world with one goal in mind, and that was to challenge the Yonko. Over the years, Kid didn't just challenge one of them. Instead, he challenged all four of them, but his main target was Shanks. The first time he fought Shank's crew, he was defeated, and his arm was cut by Ben Beckman. Later, after the end of the Wano Country arc, Shanks shot him and left him for dead.

Wano was the turning point in the series where fans got to see Luffy go up against a Yonko. Luffy's first encounter with Kaido showed the huge power gap between the two, and when they fought it was the first of many defeats Luffy would suffer at the hands of the Yonko. Luffy suffered a total of three defeats. The first defeat came in Kuri, and the second and third came on the roof of Onigashima.

Akainu

• Yonko Challenged: Whitebeard

Akainu was first introduced during the Summit War of Marineford, where he showed that he is no pushover. He was the admiral who constantly fought Whitebeard and tried to kill him. Akainu had the upper hand in the fight due to Whitebeard's failing health. However, after killing Ace, Akainu suffered the absolute wrath of Whitebeard and was brutally attacked by the Yonko, even shattering the island itself.

Kozuki Oden

Odin, after returning to Wano, was in total disbelief at what had happened to his beloved land. He directed his anger at Orochi, but the latter made a deal with him, which he accepted. When the time came, Orochi didn't keep his end of the bargain. Odin understood that to save the people and the land he had to fight. Odin fought Kaido and had the upper hand, but a small distraction cost Odin the fight and he ended up losing.

• Yonko Challenged: Big Mom

During the Whole Cake Island arc, Brook was tasked with retrieving one of the Road Poneglyphs that Big Mom had. His plan didn't go as planned, leading to Big Mom confronting him. Brook, instead of running, chose to stand against the Emperor. This fight was short where Brook was defeated, but he won the hearts of the fans. At the same time, he also managed to steal a rubbing of her Poneglyphs and became the MVP of the arc.

The nine red skis

The retainers of Kozuki Oden wanted two things in Wano – to defeat Kaido and bring peace to Wano again. They got their chance on the roof of Onigashima, where they fought a battle of the ages, and even Kaido was shocked by the strength they possessed. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough, as Kaido defeated them effortlessly, and they put their utmost trust in Luffy to achieve their dream.

Crocodile

• Yonko Challenged: Whitebeard

Crocodile was the first antagonist to defeat Luffy multiple times. He was the main villain in the Alabasta arc, and later a recurring character seen during the Summit War in Marineford. There it was revealed that Crocodile once fought Whitebeard and was totally defeated by him. This left a deep wound that he never forgot, and he still held a grudge against the Yonko when he died.

Rob Lucci

• Yonko Challenged: Monkey D. Luffy

Lucci returned to the series during the Egghead Island arc, where he once again faced Luffy. This was a rematch that everyone wanted to see. However, it was a one sided fight where Luffy outclassed him in every area, be it strength, speed or power. This was a fight whose outcome was known even before the match began.
