The halfway point for season 2 is coming next week with the Reloaded Update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and War zoneadding tons of new content, game modes and the expected return of a fresh version of Blackout. After a slower than expected launch last year, Call of Duty Black Ops 7 has seen a rise in the popularity of the player, with some fans even beginning to believe that the game is now mocking its competition, which battlefield 6, in certain marketing materials.
Despite Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Activision hasn't had a big sales impact in 2025, but Activision wants to continue building on the momentum that started with Season 2. With the upcoming release of Season 2 Reloaded, Activision has given a big rundown of everything players can expect in multiplayer, Warzone, and Zombies.

Call of Duty fans believe Black Ops 7 is mocking its biggest competitor, Battlefield 6, after the EA-published shooter revealed its roadmap for Season 2.
Call of Duty Black Ops 7 Season 2 Reloaded Release Date
As expected, Season 2 Reload brings 5 new maps to the popular ones Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 multiplayer experience. Fan favorite Call of Duty map Firing Range makes its debut in Black Ops 7along with Torque as the two new small map offerings. Cliff Town and Grind represent the medium maps, the former being a remastered version while the latter returning from Black Ops 6. Finally, Mission: Peak is the lone new Skirmish map, set in a medieval-style town with winding roads and plenty of towers for snipers to take position in.
Two new game modes are also launched in Season 2 Reloaded including the Gauntlet, which is brand new to the series and pits 2 teams of 6 against each other in 5 rounds of different game modes. Modes include Domination, Kill Confirmed, Hardpoint, Team Deathmatch and Roulette, each lasting 2 minutes and immediately progressing to the next. The winning team earns a point and the one with the highest total at the end wins. Infected is the second returner Call of Duty game mode, a party game where survivors try to hold out against infected players. Being killed means the survivor joins the infected side. But in this version, the infected have additional undead enemies to help them as well as unique Mutant Injection Scorestreaks to turn into Manglers or Disciples.
For fans of Call of Dutys PvE activity known as Endgame, Season 2 Reloaded also has some notable additions. Glitch Fractures is an “off-map experience” that draws players to a patch of corrupt C-Link data. Survive multiple, escalating waves of enemies and the boss to gain access to powerful NIghtmare skills like Nova Strike, Chaos Rounds or Frost Vortex. Additionally, players can earn the Exotic Fabricator after beating a Strike Boss, which allows them to upgrade any charge or field acquisition into an exotic weapon.
The return of the blackout
For many longtime fans, one of the more exciting parts of this update is that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 bringing back Blackout. Call of Dutys Blackout mode is launched inside Black Ops 4 and introduced players to its version of the battle royale genre, before it was eventually replaced by War zone. Now, as part of Season 2 Reloaded, the classic mode makes its long-awaited return as Black Ops Royale, a free-to-play experience that sees up to 100 players drop into the Avalon map with no loading, no Gulag and no purchase stations. Teams will need to sanitize everything, stay alive against enemy players and a continuously collapsing circle.
Outside of that, War zone also sees a new perk update for Momentum, Berserker and Hunter. Berserker replaces Bomb Squad while Momentum takes over for Alertness in Perk Slot 2. In Perk Slot 3 players will now see Hunter instead of Tracker.
Zombies adds new content for players
The third pillar i Call of Duty experience is Zombies and in Season 2 Reloaded there is a lot of new content to look forward to. First up is Paradox Junction, a new map that places players in a time warped version of Nuketown, essentially trapped in a temporary prison by The Warden. Players can also earn new rewards and XP for working through the Main Quest in Paradox Junction, including a new weapon skin for the recently added Wonder Weapon, the four-barreled Blundergat.

A new enemy called the Rad-Hound will also be summoned, a dangerous enemy that also explodes with radiation upon death. To help deal with the threat, players can use the Electro Shock Trap, a recurring tool from previous games. Loot cysts can also be found all over the map, filled with useful items, and Perk Machines are now randomized. For those who want an even bigger challenge, the Cursed option limits the player's HUD, while only providing one gun at the start. But players will uncover more secrets along with the new Cursed Relics.
General updates
It wouldn't be one Call of Duty update without an update to the in-game store, as new packs will become available, including the Containment Protocol Reactive Tracer Pack. New event passes are also planned, including Counter Skies on March 17, with new cosmetic rewards, the Swordfish A1 Marksman Rifle and the Echo 12 Backlash Launcher Kit. Players can also earn the Voyak KT-3 Assault Rifle as part of the Altitude Tactics event, along with unique camos, camo masks, and more.
