What items should you buy first in the souvenir shop in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

If you've been desperate for a new way to decorate your spaces in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you'll no doubt be excited about the Hotel Resort added in the January 2026 version 3.0 update and the dozens of new pieces of furniture it brings.

As you gradually help decorate Kapp'n's family resort off the pier on your island, you'll earn hotel tickets that you can use in the souvenir shop run by Grams down in the lobby. She sells clothes, trinkets and new furniture, but which of her new hotel themes are worth getting with your tickets?

Cutlery

If you've ever ordered room service from a hotel or lush resort before, then you know that it will come with a luxuriously lavish array of extras other than the food, things like condiments, sauces and plates with plenty of silverware, available as silverware from Gram's gift shop at the Resort Hotel in ACNH to spice up any restaurant.

Whether you're trying to create a food themed room at the Resort Hotel or you're trying to find new things to add to any dining room you've done elsewhere on the island to give the idea that hungry guests will soon be feasting on the plethora of food recipes you've cooked and displayed long ago.

Marble Kitchen Island

If you're a fan of fancy living and you've been trying to get another taste of it from Animal Crossing: New Horizons, then the 3.0 update for the game is sure to impress with its handful of extra luxury offerings, with five items made entirely of marble. And while the wall clock, table, vanity, and fireplace are all beautiful, it's the Marble Kitchen Island that got us the most.

It has a sink and a stove with a kettle pre-positioned on top on one side, and both a square and rounded edge on the other to add a fun shape to any kitchen and living room. You can place stools on the other side and put some food or drinks on top, and you have one hell of a kitchen!

Hotel mug

If you're a vacationer who likes to travel a lot, you've probably found yourself a type of souvenir that comes home with you every time you go somewhere. Things like key rings, magnets, and shot glasses are always fun tchotchke items to bring to yourself or loved ones, but what's more iconic than a mug from somewhere you've been?

The Hotel Mug is the cheapest of all the items Grams sells in his souvenir shop, but it's a fun way to add a dash of travel flair to any building. These cute, colorful little mugs can be placed in cafe buildings, hotel rooms you design, dinners, or even cozy library buildings meant to evoke that oh-so-cozy feeling.

Wall-hung bookshelf

Libraries have been one of the most popular building styles since the very first Animal Crossing game back in the GameCube days, and we already have tons of fun furniture in Animal Crossing: New Horizons to help you design your dream library in your own home, for a villager on your island, or even as a fun feature in one of your special Resort Hotel rooms?

Colorful-Lantern Arch

We already have tons of arches in the ACNH furniture catalog, but we'll never say no to more, especially when they have such a fun and easy-to-customize design as the Colorful-Lantern Arch that Grams starts selling after you raise the island's reputation a second time.

This fun party arch is perfect for all kinds of celebrations both indoors and outdoors. Add them to any birthday party scene as seamlessly as you can add them to an island-themed party on the beach or a dance party in a club you've created somewhere on the island. Who wouldn't love a fun, bright, colorful vibe for their space?

Children's car

Depending on when you grew up, you probably recognize these iconic, adorable little cars meant for toddlers and kids to sit inside and use their feet to run around and simulate driving the car, steering with the plastic wheel inside and having a ball pretending to be a champion on the road.

The same fun returns in the ACNH 3.0 update, which brings the Kiddie furniture to Gram's shop as soon as you design a Kiddie-themed room. Go back outside and place it among your island playground builds to really drive home the nostalgic feel of your island. You can even customize the colors to make it even faster!

Flower planter

You've got tons of ways to decorate your island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons with plants and flowers (even before you factor in the massive quest that tries to create every hybrid flower in the game for decorative purposes as well), but the Flower Planter is a wonderful new item that boosts your greenery.

Available in a variety of colors for both the vase and the flowers themselves, you can customize the flowerpot in a few ways to make it fit into any hotel room setting where nature plays a role. The flowers cannot be changed individually for the vase, but the options we have been given are always beautiful additions to hotel rooms.

Hotel Aloha Cardigans

We always get new clothing options when there's DLC, just like a handful of new additions to your wardrobe when Happy Home Paradise launched a few years after the debut of ACNH. It took you to another island to help create all kinds of homes for the visiting villagers who came across your shores.

However, in the 3.0 update, Resort Hotel comes with a few different designs for clothing, with blues for wintry vibes and oranges for more of a summer feel. They're available as shirts or cardigans, but with the update launching this winter in the northern hemisphere, we're loving all the new cozy options we can get for our villagers.

Rolling suitcase

It's not often you see people checking into a hotel without any kind of luggage, and a more iconic option for travelers is a rolling suitcase, an item added to the furniture catalog in ACNH with the 3.0 update. Talk to Grams and cough up some hotel tickets to get an item that fits seamlessly into any kind of room theme you're trying to build.

Available in a variety of colors, there won't be a theme Leilani can throw at you that doesn't have room to add something rolling suitcase in. The only way it would be more fun is if interacting with it actually allowed you to change clothes, instead of just raising and lowering the handle. We can change our clothes from a fridge, but not from a real suitcase, Nintendo…?

Retro game consoles

If you're someone playing the 3.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, you'll have access to a handful of extra features, including permission to use Slumber Islands to create extra islands on a console, or even play retro games from the Switch's catalog of titles.

Once you've done that improved your reputation for the hotel and island, Grams will start stocking all kinds of rare items, and these consoles are some of the best of the best. Place them in your home and you'll actually be able to use them to play some retro games right in ACNH! There are six titles available as of the release of the update.
