The Outer Worlds 2 gets Fan-Made Appearance Editor after character creation

The Outer Worlds 2 has a pretty solid character creator, similar to what we got in Avowed, but with some new options. In fact, it's so good that I was hoping to go back to it mid-playthrough, make some adjustments to my character after seeing them in action, and maybe make changes that reflect what was going on in the story. Unfortunately, this is not possible, as there is no way to customize your appearance after character creation in The Outer Worlds 2.

Thankfully, a fan has already come to the rescue. Among the mods already available for download for The Outer Worlds 2 we have the Character Editor from Nexus Mods user nathdev. This allows you to change your character's appearance and stats on the fly, so you're not locked into whatever you chose at the start of your journey.

As you can see from the mod in action, it doesn't open the character creator from the start of the game. Instead, you simply get access to a bunch of drop-down boxes, where you can switch between different functions for your character.

So if you also like to change your character's appearance as you go through the story, then this mod is a must have. Speaking from experience, you will not find a way to edit your appearance in the game. Trust me, I looked for the option when I played The Outer Worlds 2 for review.

This isn't too surprising, as Awowed also lacked the ability to customize your character after you start playing through. It's a frustrating feature in Obsidian games, especially as other RPGs have long had this as a feature. Granted, some had to add it after launch, like Cyberpunk 2077 and Baldur's Gate 3, so there's a chance the same thing will happen here, but there's no word on that yet.

At least you can play The Outer Worlds 2 right now if you have the premium edition. Otherwise, you'll have to wait until its wider launch on October 29.
