One Piece's The Elbaf Arc has been everything fans have hoped it would be so far. Intense conflict, big reveals, and so much more have made it one of the best arcs in a long time – and considering what came before it, that's saying something. While the Knights of God look to take Elbaf for the world government, Luffy and the rest of the Straw Hat team have found themselves in yet another difficult spot.
Elbaf has already had some intense moments, and there will be many more before the arc reaches its end. With the Knights of God on the scene and the stakes so high, One Piece fans should be ready to say goodbye to some characters caught up in the conflict. These are some characters that may not make it out of Elbaf alive.
Jarul
The world's oldest giant may have run out of time
Over 400 years old, the former co-captain of the Giant Warrior Pirates has lived a long and eventful life. But his time may be running out. As the Knights of God begin their assault on Elbaf, Jarul, as the nation's elder, is caught in the middle of the events taking place on the island.
We've already seen Jarul willing to make tough decisions to save innocent lives, just as he did when he burned down Walrus School and the Owl Library to save the 10 child hostages—including his great-great-granddaughter, Ylva—threatened by Saint Sommers and the other God Knights. Jarul would not hesitate for a second to put himself in danger if it meant saving Elbaf's people. With the warped Knights of God running across the island, and Imu tasking the now Domi Reveri'd Dorry and Brogy with taking out Jarul, his days may be numbered.
Shepherd Sommers
A potential game-changing character death
God Knights have played a much bigger role in Elbaf than in Wano and Egghead. The current attack on Elbaf is led by Sommers, Gunko and Killingham. While they've proven to be incredibly powerful, it wouldn't be too surprising to see one bite the dust before the Elbaf arc ends. If that happens, Shepherd Sommers seems like the likely candidate.
We've already seen Sommers get outclassed in battle twice so far, first against Nico Robin and then against Scopper Gaban. In the case of the former, Sommer's immortality—a trait that all God's Knights possess—saved him from what would have been a devastating final blow from Robin. But we've seen that Gaban was able to do real damage to him thanks to his Supreme King Haki. Although not fatal, Gaban was able to cut off Sommer's arm and even decapitate him. This slowed down his regenerative abilities, but it wasn't enough to put him down for good. Still, we've seen Sommers lose twice so far in Elbaf. If any of the God Knights are going to die in this arc, there's a good chance it will be him.
Scopper Gaban
A legendary pirate on his way out?
Speaking of Gaban, the former navigator of the Roger pirates has made quite an impression throughout the Elbaf arc thus far. We've seen how strong “Mountain-Eater” is with how well he handled Sommers in battle. Even at his advanced age, Gaban is undoubtedly one of the strongest fighters on Elbaf.
Last we saw Gabba, he handled Sommers better than anyone on Elbaf, and it seemed like he would have done the same to Gunko if it weren't for her using his son, Colkon, as a hostage. Gaban left himself open to save Colon and was impaled by Gunko's arrows, sending him down to the underworld of Elbaf. Thankfully, Chopper was able to save him from falling to his death. Gaban is in a tough spot as long as his wife and son are in danger. The Knight of God now knows he has family connections on Elbaf and has used it against him once. It wouldn't be surprising for them to exploit this again, and next time the Gabba might not be so lucky.
Jaguar D. Saul
A tearful reunion could have been a prelude to a devastating farewell
Robin's reunion with Saul was one of the most heartfelt moments of the series so far. As the one who saved her during the Buster Call on Ohara, fans have been looking forward to this moment for years. While it was well worth the wait, it didn't take long for Sommers and the rest of the Knights of God on Elbaf to destroy it.
Saul is last seen after being badly beaten by Sommers and handed over to his Iba Iba no Mi. Protecting Robin because he knew about the Knights of God's Immortality doesn't look good for Saul. With the situation on Elbaf getting worse thanks to Imu's arrival via possession of Gunko, Saul could be in for a tough time. Not only is he a former vice admiral who betrayed the chain of command, but he is also a member of the Clan of D., making him a potential target for Imu. Whether Saul is outright killed during the conflict or just Domi Reversi'd, Robin could be in store for more tragedy.
Dorry and Brogy
Two powerful giants on an unstoppable rampage
With the attack on Elbaf as overwhelming as it has been thus far, many would look to the current co-captains of the Giant Warrior Pirates as the nation's first line of defense. Although both Dorry and Brogy seemed up to the task of defending their homeland, everything fell apart when Imu used her Domi Reversi ability to change them into demonic versions of themselves, along with some of their crew. After being given the goal of taking out Jarul and declaring themselves the new kings of Elbaf, Dorry and Brogy will have to face many of their friends and allies.
So far we know of no way for a character affected by Imus Domi Reversi to break free. The God Valley flashback shows us that Rocks and some of his family fell victim to the ability, and it took the combined efforts of Garp and Rogers to defeat him. Although not yet confirmed, many speculate that Harald was Domi Reversi'd back when Loki and Jarul saw him impaled by their guards in the throne room 14 years ago. With seemingly no way to defeat a Domi Reversi'd enemy other than knocking them down for good, it looks like Dorry and Brogy's fate may be sealed.
