Yellowstone Creator Joins Call of Duty Movie

It has recently been confirmed that Taylor Sheridan, best known for co-creating the critically acclaimed Yellowstone TV Series, comes aboard Paramount's Call of Duty film adaptation. The Call of Duty the film, which was officially announced earlier this fall, already has some high-profile talent attached, most notably Peter Berg, known for projects like Friday Night Lights, Deepwater Horizonand Lone survivor.

As might be expected, the concept of a Call of Duty film adaptation has been in the works for several years now. Before this latest announcement, the most significant sensation of this big-screen pivot came in 2018, when Activision Blizzard Studios looked at Sicario 2 director Stefano Sollima; Unfortunately, it seems that version of the film fell through, paving the way for this Berg and Sheridan team-up.

On October 30, 2025, Deadline reported that Sheridan would be coming on board Call of Duty film together with his longtime friend Peter Berg. The duo had previously worked together on Hell or high water and Wind Riverand their partnership on this Cod The project was reportedly coveted by Paramount.

A preference for this pair is not so surprising. As previously mentioned, both have extensive credits and a proven track record of commercial success, in both film and television. More than this, each creator's work is consistent with the identity, tone and ostensible values Call of Duty franchise. Sheridan's Special Operations: Lioness will come to mind as a project spiritually connected Cods fundamental pro-military roots and high-level political intrigue, as does Berg's Lone survivor and Patriots Day.

The unnamed Call of Duty adaptation will be produced by Skydance, a production house responsible for several Cod-like hits, incl Mission Impossible movies, two Jack Reacher noises, and Top Gun: Maverick. Skydance founder and CEO David Ellision, who is a self-proclaimed Call of Duty hen, had this to say about the project back in September of this year: “We're approaching this film with the same disciplined, uncompromising commitment to excellence that guided our work on Top Gun: Maverickto ensure it meets the exceptionally high standards that this franchise and its fans deserve.”
