Beyond large franchises such as Halo and ForzaMicrosoft Store hosts an extensive range of different indie games from smaller developers. The growth of indie games with digital marketplaces has prompted many smaller studios to try their hand at game development and share their own creations online. Some indie games have even transcended their small studio status to become some of the biggest names in gaming, such as Stardew Valley, Hollow Knightand Hades among others. A new sale now puts the spotlight on a host of smaller studios.

Xbox officially launched its new “99 Cents Sale” earlier this week, with more than 60 different games discounted to less than a dollar. The list includes a variety of games from smaller indie studios, including several RPGs, simulations, and racing games in the mix. The range of games notably lacks any big name draws for the sale, with the discounts largely focused on making certain smaller studios' games more accessible to fans. The Xbox 99 Cents sale is currently scheduled to run through October 22nd.
