How do Gray and Arthur make more interesting as characters

One of the amazing things with Beginning after the end Anime adaptation is how it handles Arthur's past as King Gray. In Manhwa, Gray is seen as much more charismatically as in his past life, as a king who seized power and was willing to retire after witnessing meaningfulness in everything.
Beginning after the end Anime has added additional scenes to the beginning of history which makes it clear that Gray is more of a morally complicated nature. These scenes, while subtle, give a greater depth and importance to his new life as he learns the importance of love and family. Let's investigate what these subtle additions reveal about King Gray and now Arthur's character in this new adaptation.

Beginning after the end of section 3: release date and where to look at
Two episodes of the beginning after the end have been released, when will the next be out?
King Grey's cold past
What these scenes tell about Grey's character
From section 1, Anime has gone out of her way of showing how King Gray in her past life was a killer with unclean hands. This characterization begins when it shows scenes of Gray's death, one is a woman who bleeds out on the floor. A visualization is also shown to emphasize the corpses that were necessary for Gray to sit on his throne. Section 1 also saw that Gray ordered a mass bombing of an entire city and showed her coldness for innocent lives.
Anime makes a strong case to see Gray who does not purely a victim of his murder but a morally conflict that has a better reason to seek redemption in his new life as Arthur. The purpose of these scenes is to both show a greater contrast between Arthur's two lives and also to make it more influence when he discovers the unconditional love of his parents and friends, something he never found or understood in his old life.
This trend continues into section 2, where we get an extended scene showing King Gray who stands in them over a man and his family after the man had done something against him.
“Wait, please! It's true that I tried to hurt the king! But it was my crime alone! I ask you, spare my wife and children … please, spare them, King Gray!” -You are accused of trying to hurt the king.
Based on how the scene is set up, the audience can expect Gray to show mercy by allowing the human family to avoid punishment and free. But instead, we see that Gray releases his own version of Mercy by coldly taking the human family in front of him instead of letting them be deported. This scene, more than anyone so far, shows how ruthless gray was before his reincarnation.

4 Things The beginning after the end anime can do differently than manhwa
The beginning after the end of anime will be released in 2025. Here are four things it can do differently than Manhwa.
A new dynamic
How this makes Gray and Arthur more interesting as characters
This extra depth is an interesting layer for Gray's character. This makes Arthur, as in the Manwha adaptation, feels more like a silly and lighter fish-out water character in the beginning, now more like the monster that the adult jokes describes him as. We see from the first place how gray was willing to eject destruction in cold blood and wonder if Arthur will grow up to do the same.
These scenes also provide additional taste to certain measures taken by Arthur. For example, when he sacrifices himself at the end of section 2, he is intended to add the same pain to his attacker by pulling him down the cliff with him. In a version where Arthur is morally empathetic, this seems a way to ensure that the attacker cannot hurt his mother after he falls. But in anime, it feels more like Gray is demanding cold, “eye for an eye” revenge against the attacker for himself despite his selfless sacrificial act.
“I won't go down without taking you with me.” -Athur Leywin.
While the characterization these scenes add is subtle, it feels like a solid direction for Beginning after the end Anime. It will be interesting to see how future platforms are struggling with Gray's highlighted past, which is more focus in the story.
