Sonic X Shadow Generations brings us the best levels and worst bosses
Sonic X Shadow Generations shines brightest with its Shadow levels, but its boss battles were a nasty walk down memory lane.
One such level is Sonic Forces' Sunset Heights, where Shadow quickly dashes through the levels. Of course, getting an S Rank isn't always the easiest, and finding all those keys amidst the chaos is far from easy. Don't worry, we're here to speed up your journey.
How to get an S rank in sunset heights
Sunset Heights pays tribute to one of Sonic's latest entries, Sonic Forces, but lets Shadow take the helm instead. This area has a lot of optional routes which are pretty timely to achieve, so we'll tell you exactly what to look out for to get that S rank.
Sunset Heights Act 1 S Rank
Act 1 of Sunset Heights is an exclusive 3D experience. You need a lot tactical use of Chaos Control hereso here are some tips that we recommend.
A new enemy introduced in this level looks small tanks that fire grenades. With Chaos Control you can stop time turn these grenades into Homing Attack projectiles which can easily let you reach higher. The same goes for the early Death Egg Robot that throws boulders.
When you reach the sewer sections, be sure to hold the button for the Doom Spears. This allows you to easily lock onto the monsters chasing you, and leaving them open to a Doom Blast attack to take you to higher routes much easier.
There is a short interlude to a Radical Highway section that plays completely differently. When you're in the tunnels, you want to loop around as much as possible while boosting to avoid the damaging terrain. While you can jump over the spiked balls in the first few tunnels, you have to go in a loop to avoid damage in the last one.
After this, you can rush straight to the goal. Make sure to use Chaos Control as often as possible it also freezes the in-game timerwhich saves precious seconds.
Beat Act 1 with one score of 40,000 and a time under 4:30 minutes should give you an A Rank, with a Perfect Clear increasing it to an S Rank.
Sunset Heights Act 2 S Rank
Act 2 of Sunset Heights is one exclusively side-scrolling affair with a liberal use of Doom Surf to get you to its highest routes. Here's what you should do to get the coveted S rank.
There are parts of this mission that require the use of Doom Spears, mainly spring traps. Be sure to be aware of your surroundings so that you don't bump into them by accidentand keep the Doom Spears ready so you don't have to stop to activate the springs.
Almost every instance of this law where you surf comes requires you to jump to reach a higher route. This usually occurs at the end of a slope, so be prepared to jump.
While they are walking on platforms, the Death Egg Robot in the background will start targeting them and eventually destroy them. If you're fast enough, this shouldn't be a problem. However, don't be afraid to use Chaos Control to freeze them to give you a little more breathing room.
In certain parts of the mission, such as after the first and second encounter with the Death Egg Robot, a series of small robot hornets will appear. Use a target attack on them to follow them as a Lightspeed Dash. These will always take you to higher routes.
While in the higher roads in the sewer section, there will be several massive pipes spewing water. Getting hit by these will knock you into a lower routeso avoid them at all costs. Using Chaos Control is an excellent method here.
Chaos Control fills when Shadow defeats enemies
so fight every enemy you see to keep it charged.
At the very end of the scene, make sure to do it use Chaos Control just before the Death Egg Robot attacksbecause they will destroy the higher path if you don't.
Complete the law with a time under 3:00 minutes and a score of at least 40,000 gives you an A Rank. Get a Perfect Clear to upgrade to an S-rank.
