Audiofiles and Datapads together create one of the three main sets of collectibles in Aphelion. Collecting all these files goes a long way toward helping players understand the relationships within the Project Aphelion crew and the truth behind their project. As a bonus, gathering all 18 files will give players the Bookworm achievement.
We’ll explain how and where you can find every Audiofile and Datapad in Aphelion so you can unravel the truth behind Project Aphelion. We’ll also show you how to tell which chapters you’ve already collected all the files in, and which you’re still missing files in.

How to Complete the Bookwork Achievement in Aphelion
There are 18 files for players to find between Chapters 2 and 10 in Aphelion. We’ve sorted all 18 Audiofiles and Datapads into a list organized by when in the game you’d find them.
If you find yourself missing a file and aren’t sure which one, completing the game will allow you to visit a Chapter selection screen. By selecting a chapter on this screen, you’ll be able to see if it contains any Audiofiles or Datapads, and how many of them you’ve already found.
Station’s Operations
- File Type: Audiofile
- Chapter: “The Escape Pod”
- Character: Thomas
While players make their way to the Abandoned Station marker, you’ll come across a clearing with an Ice Formation and no extra oxygen tank. There will be a small, blocked room on the other side of this clearing. You’ll need to hurry across a ledge on the right side of the map to enter this room and use the oxygen tank within it.
There will be a desk on one side of this area. Interact with the file on top of it to pick up this Audiofile.
Project Aphelion — Phase 1 Review
- File Type: Audiofile
- Chapter: “The Outpost”

After entering Chapter 5, players will be in the first room of the Outpost. Walk to the room in the back and take the ladder to the next floor. Turn around to find this Audiofile on a table in the Outpost’s kitchen.
Nemesis Sighting

After repairing the rover in the Outpost, players will need to travel to the Annex to find more answers. Exiting the main lab requires players to walk through a hallway to an outdoor area. This Audiofile will be on top of a set of boxes on the right side of the hall.
Status Report Re:EM Spectrum Amplifier

After entering the Annex, walk to the left side of the room. This Datapad will be on the left side of the desk between the corner and the leftmost two monitors.

Once you’ve made it to the base’s Locker Room, you’ll see a set of suits near a door labeled “Airlock.” Open this door and walk to the other side of the room. One of the bookshelves blocking the exit will have this Audiofile on its shelf.

When you first enter the Crew Quarters, head through the first door on the left. Turn right and walk down this hallway to find a door on the left marked with a sign reading “Dormitory”.
Enter this room and head to a cabinet in the corner of the room. The Audiofile is stored on the top right shelf of this cabinet.

This Datapad is located in the kitchen at the start of the Crew Quarters in the base. Enter the room through the door on the right, then walk to the left side of the kitchen by the fridge to pick up this Datapad.
Marcus Macallan Incident

When you follow the blood to Commander Leary’s door, you’ll see a door labeled “Machinery” on the left side of the hall. Enter this door and walk to the back of it to see a small room to the right. This Audiofile will be on the desk near the start of the room.
Malcom’s Ineptitude

Players will receive this Audiofile after unlocking Commander Leary’s quarters and examining Marcus Macallan’s body. To open the commander’s quarters, you’ll need to get his password from the launch day photo in Crew’s Quarters #02. The date of the launch is used to find his password, which is 020845.

You’ll wind up in Greenhouse #01 after a chase scene in chapter six. When you enter this room, look to your left to see a small side room. The Audiofile will be at the end of this room on a desk.

After walking out of the first room of Greenhouse #01, stop in the next room and turn left before entering the next door. There will be a small room with a desk. Walking over to the desk will reveal this Audiofile resting on top of it.

At the start of Chapter 8, you’ll walk through a few rooms until you reach a depressurized Locker Room. Start by connecting your suit to the Oxygen tank to the left of the Crew Quarters. Afterward, you can turn around to find this Audiofile on the table across the room. It will be to the right of the door labeled “Archives.”

Following the main path of this chapter will take you to the Archives. On the way there, you’ll need to crawl through a hallway blocked with icy spikes. After standing up after crawling, the Datapad will be on top of the stack of crates to your right.
Hey, You There?

After getting into the Archives, you’ll need to walk straight into the next room to reach a source of oxygen. Before following the blood trail to the left, head into the room directly in front of you. You’ll find this Audiofile on the right side of the room.

After entering the Archives and connecting to the closest oxygen tank, you’ll want to head into the room on the left. There, you’ll find Commander Leary’s body in the center of the room. Examining it will give you this Audiofile.

After discovering Commander Leary’s body, head down the staircase to find the Medical Bay. Before entering it, walk to the right to grab this Audiofile off a nearby table.

This Audiofile is available after entering the Base as Ariane in Chapter 9. When you get to the room with Frank Leary’s body, you should see a small table behind it and to the right. This Audiofile will be on the right side of the table.
Phaedra Duan’s Last Words

While making your way along the Styx River, you’ll come across a snapped rope leading into a hole. Follow this rope down and hop onto the ledge next to it. You’ll see this Audiofile next to the body of Phaedra Duan.
