Where to find cotton in Solarpunk

Cotton is a material used to make fabric in Solarpunkmaking it essential for players at all stages of the game. While there are some easy-to-find places on the starting island where players can find cotton early in the game, getting more is a bit more difficult. Here's how you can do it.

Where to find cotton in Solarpunk

There is five cotton bushes on the starting island i Solarpunk which you can harvest right from the start of the game. Once harvested, these bushes will not grow back. The exact location of all five cotton bushes is shown in the screenshot above.

Cotton number one, two, three and four (as shown on the map image) can be easily accessed right from the start of the game. As for cotton number five, you'll either have to build a makeshift wooden stair bridge up to the edge to reach its location or use an airship.

How to get more cotton in Solarpunk

Every time you harvest a cotton bush, you get two things: 1x Cotton and 1x cotton seed. Cotton seeds can be planted on arable land (use a Hoe to make arable land), and they will grow into a new cotton bush over time.

Watering these shrubs will speed up their growth cycle, so remember to water often.

Once the cotton bushes are ready, you can pick them to get 1x cotton and 1x cotton seed per bush, effectively doubling your yield. This is formed a cycle where you can plant seeds, harvest cotton and then plant seeds in the same seed beds again to start over. Each time a cycle is completed, you get 5 cotton as the total yield.

Once you have built your airship, you will be able to leave the starting island and visit the nearby locations where you will find more cotton bushes, allowing you to further expand the size of your cotton farms.

Early in the playthrough of Solarpunkyou can only water with a watering can, which you can unlock the recipe for at the Research Table. But as you progress, you'll unlock better ways to farm like the automatic sprinkler.

How to use cotton in Solarpunk

IN SolarpunkCotton has two main uses:

Craft cloth: You can process cotton into cloth at the crafting table. Cloth is used to craft several items, including the airship, the bed, and the research table.
Give to Trader Bot: The trader bot on the island north of the starting island requires 12x Cotton as one of its trades. Doing this is a requirement to unlock the first Airship upgrade.
Use at the research table: Cotton and cloth are used to unlock the recipes for several items at the research table.
