New Mega Evolutions and Gen 6 Starters Rumored for Pokemon Legends: ZA.
It has been almost a year since the first and last official screening of Pokemon Legends: ZAand the only confirmed details about it are that it will launch sometime this year and that it will include Mega Evolutions. The original trailer for Pokemon Legends: ZA without a doubt, fans provided more information about what the game loop might be, what the setting might entail, and what animals are likely to appear in the game. Mega evolutions in Pokemon Legends: ZA assumed to be a big part of the title since the gimmick was first introduced in Gen 6's Kalos, exactly where the game takes place.
Specifically, the game is supposed to take place throughout Lumiose City, which will be expanded in terms of size and likely its lore. Pokemon Legends: ZAThe trailer also mentioned that the game is about the “urban redevelopment plan” for Lumiose City, which supposedly allows players to make changes to the city itself as the story progresses. Although official information is lacking, there are solid reasons to anticipate that certain features and Pokémon will be added to the game, and there have been plenty of leaks regarding the latest installment in the franchise.

Pokemon Legends: ZA has the perfect connection with an evolution line
Between its cyberspace trailer, its urban rebuilding story, and even its own name, Pokemon Legends: ZA should feature a special line of Pokemon.
Pokemon Legends: ZA's second trailer and release window
For starters, given that the game is coming in 2025, what's almost guaranteed to happen is a new trailer showing gameplay. There is currently no release date or window for Pokemon Legends: ZAbut leaks indicate that the game is reportedly scheduled to arrive between March and June 2025. It's unclear if those plans changed, as last year Game Freak suffered a hacker attack that resulted in 1 TB of files if Pokémon franchise leaking out. This leak should contain information about Pokemon Legends: ZA and even a playable version of it, but the hacker behind the so-called TeraLeak didn't reveal much about it.
Famous leaker Riddler Khu pointed out that Pokemon Legends: ZA was originally slated for an earlier release, but according to TeraLeak, it's now slated to come out between April and July.
As such, a second trailer for the game will most likely arrive in the first quarter of this year. One could argue that Pokemon Day 2025, which falls on February 27th, would be the perfect moment for a new trailer, although some sources claimed it could be released before then, between January and early February. The trailer will likely feature gameplay elements such as battles, walkthrough abilities, how evolution works, starters, Poke Balls, and possibly new Megas.
Pokemon Legends: ZA brings back Mega Evolutions
Mega Evolutions are coming back Pokemon Legends: ZA meaning that most, if not all, of the former are likely to return. On top of that, new Mega Evolutions are all but confirmed if Game Freak intends to keep things fresh. There are currently 48 Mega Evolutions in the franchise, split into 30 for Gen 6 games and 18 for Gen 3 remakes, so it's likely that Pokemon Legends: ZA may contain at least 15-20 new Megas. Leaks suggest that 21 new Mega Evolutions will be in the game, which is reasonable with this prediction.
Items in Pokemon games usually play a big role in the game, but they were missing in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. However, Mega Evolutions in Gen 6 required critters to hold the respective Mega Stones, so it's unclear if Pokemon Legends: ZA will bring back Held Items or find a new method for Mega Evolutions to work.
Pokemon Legends: ZA's Post-Launch Support
Although the game has yet to come out officially, it is not unlikely that it will receive some kind of support after the 2025 launch. Pokemon Legends: Arceus received a major update after launch, but there were rumors of a DLC in the works. It remains to be seen Pokemon Legends: ZA will follow the same pattern, but it seems likely that it will.
Every Big Pokemon Legends: ZA Leak so Far
Some leaks too Pokemon Legends: ZA indicates that the game is being developed for both the Nintendo Switch and its successor, with the latter presumably having improved performance overall. There have also been leaks regarding returning Pokemon and new Megas, including:
Mega Zeraora and Mega Zygarde make sense given the focus on the letter “z” in the title and how Zygarde was a Gen 6 Legendary Pokemon. Other leaks mention that the game will be set in modern-day Kalos, but it remains to be seen if that makes it a prequel or sequel to Gen 6 games – what that means is that it won't be set in the distant past as Pokemon Legends: Arceuswhich seems likely based on the first trailer.
Pokemon Legends: ZA Starter Leaks and Predictions Explained
It's worth mentioning that no starters for the upcoming title have been shown so far. However, it indicates leaks Pokemon Legends: ZA will have Gen 6 starters as their own, but with some differences from their original versions. Fixed Pokemon Legends: Arceus featured three newcomers from across the franchise (namely Rowlett from Gen 7, Cyndaquil from Gen 2, and Oshawott from Gen 5), it would make sense for Pokemon Legends: ZA to revisit Gen 6 starters as they never got Mega Evolutions even in their native games.
On the other hand, it would also make sense to include Gen 6 starters Pokemon Legends: ZA and give them new Mega Evolutions and/or Regional Forms, then use the same formula as Pokemon Legends: Arceus. As such, including three starters from different generations might be a good choice, and some leaks mentioned it Pokemon Legends: ZA starters would be from Gens 3, 5 and 8. Since this is very unconfirmed, it remains to be seen what approach will be taken.
