If anyone prefers to play on PC via Steam or consoles like Xbox and PlayStation, there's always the hunt for your next game. Most Steam and console gamers all have one thing in common in that regard, and that is to love great games that stand out from the crowd. Especially in the world of live service offerings, it is extra difficult to capture a player's attention. Fatigue on live services is real, and many games that fall under that umbrella fail to have serious longevity.
However, there is one live service title from the past few years that has managed to hold on to a solid following despite not being in the limelight as much as games like Destiny 2 and Fortnite. Off the grid takes the cyber-driven dystopia off Cyberpunk 2077the action packed game of Apex Legendsand mixes it together with some of ARC Raiders' extraction element. It's a unique balance that can easily feel like it's just copy and paste, but Off the grid stands for itself.

Cyberpunk 2077: Night City 2045 Officially Revealed
The Cyberpunk 2077 universe is currently growing as a major new project pulls back the curtain on Night City's historical secrets.
Like many of the most popular live service games of the last decade, Off the grid is free to play. Players who want to give it a try really have nothing to lose by testing it out. Off the grid takes place in a dystopian future where normal people are selected for a televised battle royale competition where they are given cybernetic enhancements and must fight to the death while the citizens watch as if it were a major sporting event. The general premise centered around cyber upgrades and a dystopian world will definitely remind many gamers Cyberpunk 2077's Night City, but all the action and violence is broadcast to the masses this time.

Off the Grid uses Apex Legends' fast-paced action to tell a brutal new story
This extraction-driven battle royale game takes note Apex Legends' abilities and gives them a big twist. Instead of being locked into a set of abilities during a match, Off the grid allows players to change their abilities on the fly during a session. This is done by scavenging the cyber limbs of dead opponents.
Fans of Apex Legends will likely also be drawn to Off the grids smooth combat. The fast-paced nature of the game combined with the focus on looting cyber limbs on the battlefield makes for a dynamic and grueling experience. Many live service titles that have tried to reclaim Apex Legends' the game has fallen flat, but Off the grid may be the closest. You will undoubtedly see abilities that remind you of Apexs characters, like Caustic gas as an example.
Off the grid is available for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Fans of Dystopian Worlds need to add off the Grid to their gaming rotation
Off the grids world itself is one of the game's biggest selling points. If games about corrupt mega-corporations and abuse of power are things that interest you, then Off the grid definitely checks those boxes. Both Cyberpunk 2077 and ARC Raiders showcase various predictions for a dystopian future. Off the grids version of a corrupt, technology-driven society is equally unique. IN Off the grids world, a technique called Regen is invented. It allows people to regenerate limbs and be brought back from the dead. This technology immediately inspires a group of billion-dollar gaming companies to band together and buy the rights to it and create a televised battle royale spectacle. The rain is a fun twist on Cyberpunk 2077s cyber upgrades, and the fight for survival is likely to reverberate ARC Raiders player.
Gamers who love strong world building and narrative depth may also be interested Off the grid. The game is a satire on the rapidly evolving role that technology plays in our lives while poking fun at streamer culture. Off the grids world and overarching story were created by director Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium, Chappie). So fans of Neill Blomkamp films and his exploration of technology will possibly get even more out of it Off the grid.
Each match is split between 60 players into 20 teams of three where the main goal is to collect Hexes and make it out alive. Hexes are in-game items that can be used to upgrade a player's character. Cyberlimbs are considered Hexes, but that's not all. Other useful tools like weapon upgrades are also considered Hexes. Off the grids take on extraction shooting games can be different than ARC Raidersbut the more intense nature of the former can be a fun change of pace for players of the latter.
Developer Gunzilla Games uses crypto and NFT
It is important to note that this part of Off the grid is completely optional. Crypto and NFTs are definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but players interested in the technology may be intrigued by how Gunzilla Games is using it to build a larger community. Off the grid has an in-game marketplace powered entirely by the player base. Each item mined in a match can be traded on the live market as an NFT. Using NFTs in video games has been controversial, however Off the grid at least offers the choice to bypass this part of the experience.
The in-game currency of the live market is called GUN Token and is Gunzilla Game's own crypto.
Off the grid may not be the best live service option for everyone, but it's a solid addition to the ever-growing sea of titles in this space. While the age of battle royale games seems to be coming to an end, the rise of extraction shooters may continue Off the grid goes further than it would have if it just stuck to a standard battle royale formula. Players who have been looking for a new free-to-play game that has compelling world-building, fast and intense action, cyber-focused elements and strong extraction gameplay may want to take a step and see what Off the grid is about.
