The best parts of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure has some of the most unique stories in all of anime and manga. It all begins when a stone worm reveals its true power. This only adds fuel to the fire of a conflict between the Joestar and Brando families. Some would even call it a very bizarre turn of events.

With some parts focusing on a grand adventure while others offer a mystery to unravel, each has plenty of reason to be someone's favorite part. Here's how each part of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is ranked.

Part Nine – JoJo Lands

A promising adventure

Jojo Land's main character, Jodio and his booth, November Rain.

Jojo Lands offers longtime fans a Jojo that's a little less righteous with a rather unique stand. It's hard to rate a Jojo part when it's barely made it past the front gates. The star of Jojolands is Jodio who has a goal. This is to get rich while committing various crimes all over Hawaii.

While Jodio shares a name similar to two of the most popular characters in Jojo's history, another feature that has fans keeping an eye on this part is the strange pose that comes with it. This is November rain, which can make it rain heavy drops to cause destruction. This is already a unique protagonist to follow as the series progresses.

Part One – Phantom Blood

A battle between good and evil

Phantom Blood, Jonathan and Dio meet for the first time

In terms of finished parts, Phantom Blood is at the bottom of the list. However, that doesn't mean you should skip it either. It contains horror elements that can leave any fan of the dark and creepy wanting more. It also features the most honorable and tragic Jojo of them all, Jonathan Joestar.

While the installment may not be as long or have the biggest twists and turns, the conflict between Jonathan and Dio is worth watching. This is also where Dio is at his most vampiric with his elegant way of speaking, like candy to the ears of any anime fan. For a complete Phantom Blood experience, read the manga, which has more content.

Part Five – Golden Wind

A disconnected but satisfying trip

Golden Wind is amazing. But as for Jojo's parts, it has little relevance to anything that happens in the rest of the series. While the topic of Giorno being Dio's son is quickly swept under the rug, there's still a lot to hold on to.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: 10 Best Poses

Tripods, introduced in Part 3, become the main element of JoJo's series, becoming influential for many other anime. These are the best!

Set in Venice, it follows Giorno as he tries to rise in the Mafia to protect the innocent with his influence. But after an escort mission goes wrong, Giorno and his newfound allies become enemy number one with the Stand Users on their minds.

Part Six – Stone Ocean

The end of a timeline

A shot from the intro of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean with Jolyne and her allies from the green dolphin prison.

Some fans hate Stone Ocean and some love it. However, it features a Jojo who uses clever problem solving to defeat enemies that simply cannot be defeated by brute force alone. Jolyne's part is a culmination of everything that came before it but can often leave you with mixed feelings.

It introduces interesting concepts such as Dio having several children but not doing much with them despite their potential. The Green Baby process can also seem a bit more complicated to follow until you see the end result. The story is also mostly confined in Green Dolphin Prison until Jolyne's escape.

5

Part Eight – Jojolion

A mystery that keeps getting deeper

Gappy uses Soft and Wet in Jojolion Manga

Jojolion offers plenty in the way of a good mystery, interesting displays and the return of one of the biggest original locations in Jojo's history. Like Steel Ball Run, the story is enhanced by taking place in the new continuity instead of being locked to the original timeline.

As the eighth Jojo, Josuke or Gappy tries to uncover the truth behind his identity as well as his connection to Joestar's family tree. Part Eight also benefits from having a lot of fights that take you deeper into Jojolion's larger mystery as opposed to just feeling like the random Stand User of the week. If anything, its biggest flaw is having a final antagonist who doesn't quite fit in with the rest of the main villains.

4

Part Two – Battle Tendency

No stands, no problem

The Pillar Men pose in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Part Two, Battle Tendency.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure took a big left turn in terms of the main characters. While Jonathan is the epitome of pure good in the series, Joseph Joestar has a good heart but has a tricky energy about him that traps friends and enemies alike.

It's time to pose as a Stand user for the very best JoJo's Bizarre Adventure openings.

This personality is what makes Battle Tendency such a joy to read or watch. As the episode escalates, the threat of vampires is eclipsed by the awakening of the Pillar Men; with their contrasting personalities to Joseph's, it's quite entertaining to see how he learns to beat them by thinking outside the box. So even though the Battle Tendency has no stands, it can still stand proud as one of the best Jojo parts.

3

Part Three – Stardust Crusaders

The introduction of bleachers

Dio and Jotaro fight with their respective melees.

Stardust Crusaders is by far one of the most popular parts of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. It has everything you could want to get someone instantly invested in the series. It has a menacing enemy, the introduction of Stand abilities, and characters who have tons of chemistry traveling halfway across the world together.

Stardust Crusaders is also enhanced by having multiple animations, such as Ova or the official anime. This only helps it make an even more lasting impact on fans. While this may spike Stardust Crusaders to the top, other parts make certain aspects better. Regardless, you should never skip parts to get to Stardust Crusaders.

2

Part Seven – Steel Ball Run

A race across America

Johnny Joestar poses with his Stand in the Steel Ball Run manga

Steel Ball Run starts off strong by settling into a fresh new continuity from everything that came before it. It is best described as a mix of the first three parts of Jojo. You have the Joestar and Brando conflict coming back but it's not exactly a battle between pure good and pure evil.

Meanwhile, you have the journey that Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli go on that takes them across America on horseback. With each racer in Steel Ball Run Race having their reasons for winning, it makes the enemies and allies they face that much more compelling. The installment also offers a decent mystery about the true purpose of the race, laying the groundwork for the new timeline.

1

Part Four – Diamond is unbreakable

An amazing location and memorable characters

A collage of characters from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure standing in a city, in front of a building.

Diamond is Unbreakable is the fourth installment of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, and it benefits from many of the story decisions made for the plot. Staying in Morioh throughout the plot makes it feel more like a special place in the Jojo world. This is not just a place visited briefly during a long journey, this is home.

While other installments have a more pressing goal, Diamond is Unbreakable takes it easy and lets the characters breathe. When the main villain is finally revealed, it exposes both the town and the characters you grew to love. With Yoshikage Kira on the loose and present throughout the story, you may even accidentally run into him.
