In November last year we learned about Light of Motiram, an MMO created by Tencent who looked very much like Horizon Zero Dawn. From the mechanical animals, to the setting, M and even the suit looked as if it was ripped directly from the Guerrilla Games series. It was quite condemning, because Horizon has a very clear look.
Fast flushing until July 2025, where Sony finally noted this and decided to bring an action against Tencent. From what things looked like in the trailer and the steam side it seemed to be a simple win for Sony. Tencent eventually took down the images that looked most like Horizon, but also tries to turn things in the trial by shooting back to Sony.
Tencent is not going without struggle
In response to the accusations of ripping by Horizon Zero Dawn, Tencent has accused Sony of trying to monopolize pop culture as a Sony -exclusive. As reported by Game Post, a long argument from the Chinese company has suggested that Sony does not try to stop intrusion into copyright, but tries to block the creativity of other creators.
“The plaintiff Sony has been tuned by a grip bag by Tencent company-and ten named responding-about Motiram's unreleased video games, claiming that the game copies elements from Sony's Game Horizon Zero Dawn and its Spinoffs,” says Tencent.
“At the bottom, Sony's effort does not aim to fight piracy, plagiarism or any genuine threat to intangible property. It is a wrong attempt to turn off a well -comforted corner of popular culture and explain it Sony's exclusive domain.”
It also went so far as to say that while Sony has accused light of Motiram of copied Horizon, the game itself is not as original as it claims. The game's core plot of a red-haired woman traveling over a post-apocalyptic world filled with machine-like animals was already executed by 2013's enslaved: Odyssey in the west. Guerrilla admitted to this in a documentary behind the scenes.
It finally concluded that Motiram's light is not planned to be launched until 2027, so Sony's mood is based on assumptions, before the final product is even finished.
