Star Wars Battlefront 2 Set up just a new top player as fans ask EA for a sequel

Hot off the heels of Andor's second season, Fortnite's theme events and Revenge of the Sith's long-awaited return to cinemas for the 20th anniversary, Star Wars Battlefront 2 saw an outstanding wave of players. Within weeks, a new top players of 11,000 active fighters hit Steam and broke their four -year record, while reports claimed that millions drew back over all platforms.

Over a month later, you can expect hype to have died down with Andor's conclusion, revenge of Sith's celebration ends and Fortnite moves to its DC season before the Superman movie, but on the contrary, Battlefront 2 fever still goes strong. Starting last night, it met a new top player number of 35,000 players, more than doubles May's record.

Right now I am convinced that we will hit 50k.

Fans continue to use this increase in players as a negotiating chip with EA, begging through petitions and viral social media posts for a sequel. The message was so widespread that it even captured several developers, who said they want to “get the gang back” for Battlefront 3.

Given that EA is focused on Battlefield 6, with all developers from dice to criterion working with the sequel under the Umbrella from Battlefield Studios, it seems unlikely. One player even claimed that “Campaign for Battlefront 3 was a massive mistake” and that society “should have a campaign for Battlefront 2 to get support again”. Sequel or not – support or not – players find a lot to enjoy in the game.

You have another three days on getting Battlefront 2 to the cheapest price

If you want to find out what all the being is all about, Battlefront 2 is at its cheapest price ever right now on Steam. You can get it at a 90 percent discount for £ 3.49 until June 26, but with the summer sales that starts the same day, maybe EA will extend the offer – who knows, with more and more people who buy in, it can continue to break records.

Fair warning if you haven't played the game, as you risk being matched against players who haven't left the servers since 2017, making competitive online games a nightmare for beginners. You also risk encountering hackers on PC, which many players have noted is a major problem, enough for them to repay the game if they can (or regret that they cannot). But it is also worth noting that there is a co-op mode as exciting as the large-scale PVP rings.

“I've just started playing again because of hype, and I've had so much fun to just play the 4-player mode with my friends,” explained U/Gamimanic. “We suck in this game, so the lack of super sweat and the difficulty with AI really makes it feel a little intense.”
