Since Fox McCloud's appearance in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and the subsequent reveal of Star Fox for Nintendo Switch 2, the character's designer, Takaya Imamura, has expressed great pride in the series he helped shape.
Now, with a new Nintendo Direct just hours away, Imamura has shared his wishlist of games he'd love to see at Nintendo's premiere show, and, unsurprisingly, it includes two Star Fox titles and a new Legend of Zelda.
Star Fox Creator wants more Star Fox, Zelda and Monster Hunter at today's Nintendo Direct
Imamura revealed thatwhile he received no special treatment or access to advances screening of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, he cried when he saw his character debut on the big screen. Then came the Star Fox Nintendo Switch 2 reveal.
Imamura again revealed that he was not consulted on the remake's design process and that he prefers the film version of the character, but he admitted that it was exactly what he envisioned when he helped create the original game.
Ahead of today's Nintendo Direct, Imamura has taken to social media to share his wish list, and there are some bangers.
“Star Fox additional information, a new Zelda title, new movies for Monster Hunter Wilds, and even the announcement of Star Fox Adventures & Assault streaming to come,” he said. “Honestly, at that point I'm sure I would be so overwhelmed with emotion that I would lose control of my bladder.”
It's a great list and one that I, as a huge Zelda and Star Fox fan, would really welcome. Throw in a new 3D Super Mario game, and along with the Persona 6 reveal, that would have been the perfect Summer Game Fest week for me.
I stand by the fact that Star Fox Adventures is an underrated game, just because it was named Star Fox. Originally a Nintendo 64 game called Dinosaur Planet, Star Fox Adventures took McCloud to a mysterious world, which he traversed on foot, rather than in his trusty Arwing.
We won't have to wait long until Star Fox hits Nintendo Switch 2, and our writer Josh Coulson went hands-on with the title last month. He loved his time with it, saying: “Star Fox on Switch 2 will blow away fans of the original game, while giving a whole new generation a polished version of a classic to fall in love with just like you did years ago.”
