Space Marine 2 Streamer plays the game with a ring fit

Important takeaways

  • A Warhammer streamer has played through Space Marine 2 with a Ring Fit, turning the game from a power fantasy into a hell of a workout.
  • It's surprisingly easy to install, so you can try it yourself if you really want to. All you need is Bluetooth, a third-party driver, and the Ring Fit itself.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is not that difficult game. It's mostly power fantasy, giving you a giant chainsword and a ridiculous horde of bugs to tear through. Plug in a Nintendo Ring Fit, though, and it goes from guts and glory to a helluva workout.

That's what YouTuber Hellstorm Wargaming did, using a third-party driver to turn his Ring Fit into an Xbox Controller. They had to jog in place for their entire playthrough to move Titus, and after an hour and a half they were so tired they fell off a bridge without any obstacles. But the current continued for another hour as they pushed forward and refused to give up.

I can't concentrate anymore, I'm so tired […] I'm just tired, and that's okay. I think I'm very brave for saying it out loud.

Hellstorm even used Ring Fit in the competitive PvP mode, but it was so “terrible” that they called it a day with their only death, justifiably proud given the giant unwieldy wheel they had to frantically spin around; “I think that's it, I think that's it for the Ring Fit adventure in Space Marine 2, oh my god, I'm so tired. I'm so tired”.

You can do this for yourself if you really want to

If you want to play through Space Marine 2 with a Ring Fit for yourself, it's surprisingly easy to set up. All you need to do is download the Ringcon driver which converts the inputs to that of an Xbox 360 controller.

You can then connect the two Joy-Cons needed to use the peripheral via Bluetooth (they are shown separately) and let the driver run in the background. Once done, attach one Joy-Con to your Ring Fit and the other to the leg with the strap.
