Atsushi Kaneko was specifically asked about any new Solo Leveling projects in the works and release date updates, as expected. His response to this question was reported by participants, and The producer stated that something big is coming soon and that the studios are currently working on it. In that sense, it confirms that there is indeed work in progress for the Solo Leveling franchise. According to the producer, fans should keep their eyes open for major updates in the future. Why Solo Leveling's next anime project could be released in 2027

Solo Leveling Season 1 was released in 2024, and Season 2 followed the following year in 2025. Together, the two anime seasons have a total of 25 episodes spread over two years. With that in mind, many fans predicted that the next Solo Leveling project would be released a year after Season 2, or in 2026. With 2026 almost halfway over and no trailer or announcement made, it's impossible to see Solo Leveling returning this year.

“As a Japanese person living in Japan, the anime is not at the level of Dragon Ball, One Piece or Naruto. But if season three happens, that's when I really want to break that line.” – Atsushi Kaneko, Solo Leveling Director at A-1 Pictures

The perfect release date for any upcoming Solo Leveling project would be 2027, and this lines up perfectly with what Atsushi Kaneko said at the last Comic Con. A 2027 release would mean fans wouldn't have to wait too long, and it would also give the studio plenty of time to work on an incredible project. Fans should still expect an announcement, or even a teaser to reveal the upcoming project, based on the comments made by producer Atsushi Kaneko.

Solo Leveling's next project could be a theatrical film instead of Season 3

Solo Leveling Theatrical Movie

Speaking of the upcoming Solo Leveling project, most fans are expecting a third anime season, which could very well be what A-1 Pictures has lined up. However, some rumors and leaks, based on a late 2025 committee report, point to A1 Pictures veering away from a TV anime release. According to the latest leaks, the studio is aiming to produce an animated theatrical film for Solo Leveling. This pivot comes especially after the huge success of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle last year.

A Solo Leveling movie would undoubtedly do huge numbers and it would be the perfect way to boost the series on an even bigger scale, given the wider reach of the theatrical releases. That said, nothing is certain at this point. What fans do know for sure is that Solo Leveling is coming back soon, and that A-1 Pictures and Aniplex are working on the next project, whether it be Season 3 or a movie.
