Completely unexpectedly, Solo Leveling: Arises second anniversary update introduced two dark new Hunter Origin stories centered on Myro and Antoine Martinez, who both became playable characters in Solo Leveling: Arise on May 7, 2026. Their origin stories are easily two of the most tragic backstories in all of Solo Leveling universe, arguably on the same level as Jinwoo himself.

It has added not only Hunter Original one-shots, but also expanded lore, original Hunters and side stories, all of which are available on Netmarble's official website. Especially one-shots go into the details to become powerful hunters in Solo Leveling world.
What do the latest one-shots introduced by Solo Leveling: Ariseso compelling is that they venture beyond the flashy dungeon battles and instead explore the pain, the emotional cost of becoming the world's most powerful hunter. Just as the main character, Sung Jinwoo, has an incredibly tragic background, Myro and Antoine Martinez also have incredibly heartbreaking stories.
The first chapter introduces Myro, an ordinary civilian but a world famous pianist who had no Hunter abilities at the time. She suffered at the hands of a newly awakened compulsive Hunter stalker, who in a single night destroyed both her career and her reputation. The Hunter had fallen in love with Myro and massacred her audience at one of her shows, leaving her reputation in tatters. He took her prisoner, during which she was subjected to the same mysterious eternal sleep disorder that afflicted Jinwoo's mother. Refusing to submit, she attempted to burn herself alive, but as she was about to do so, Baran, Monarch of White Flames and King of the Demons, appeared before her and made her an offer of revenge against her captor. This moment marked a new chapter in Myro's life as she was awakened as Baran's chosen successor.
In the second story, Antoine Martinez, who, before becoming a national-level healer, was a devoted family man, sees his world come crashing down when his daughter is diagnosed with a terminal illness. A loving husband and father, Antoine's world comes crashing down when he has to drive his daughter to the hospital, only for their car to collide with an 18-wheeler along the way. At this moment, Antoine wakes up as a hunter and uses his newfound powers to rush his wife and daughter to the hospital on foot. Although Antoine's wife survives the accident, his daughter dies. He later discovers her diary, where she describes her father as someone strong enough to protect everyone around him, and those words become his driving force. Antoine, in that heartbreaking moment, vows to protect others in his daughter's memory and becomes a powerful healer and a hunter.

Solo Leveling have once again excelled at giving their Hunters incredibly heartbreaking and emotionally charged backstories, while also filling in major gaps in the franchise's lore. Both Myro and Antoine's stories expand on the overall story, as well as shedding light on aspects of the hunter's world previously left unexplored, particularly the emotional and psychological toll of awakening as a hunter. Myro and Antoine's backstories are rivaled by Jinwoo, who was brutally murdered in a dungeon raid before inheriting his extraordinary powers. Much like Myro and Antoine, Jinwoo gained his powers after a dungeon raid gone wrong. He was brutally killed in the raid and inherited his powers at a deeply personal cost.
Solo Leveling: Ragnarok suggested that most monarch successors are personally chosen by their predecessors, although the identity of the Demon Monarch's successor remained a lingering mystery. This gap was filled by Myro's story, which indeed revealed that the Demon Monarch chose his own successor. Meanwhile, Antoine Martinez, a French hunter, ventures into the series beyond Korea and offers a wider insight into the hunter's world.
