The Sims franchise has just received a major shake-up, which The Sims Medieval seems to have been removed by EA. There have been many spin-offs when it comes to The Simsand The Sims Medieval seen by many fans as an underrated gem.
The Sims Medieval may not have been one of the franchise's greatest entries, but it is one of the series' most unique entries. As the name suggests, The Sims Medieval allows players to build a life in the Middle Ages. It plays very differently from the franchise's usual formula, but many players have considered it one of the best Sims spin-off game. Unfortunately, Sims fans who have been interested in trying may be too late.

The Sims Medieval has been removed from EA's online store
When you go to EA's online store, the listing for The Sims Medieval now says “Unavailable.” EA has not offered players any insight as to why the game is no longer available for fans to purchase online. This wouldn't be the first instance of EA shutting down games, but the abrupt nature of this delisting is a big surprise. The Sims Medieval has a rocky history, and this likely played a large role in EA's decision.

The Sims franchise has become well known for its post-launch content, but The Sims Medieval never got to taste that treatment. The medieval based spin-off only got to enjoy an expansion called Pirates and Nobles. Other than this DLC, there weren't really any major post-launch updates that made the game feel fresh. As fun as it was as a spin-off, the lack of additional content meant it got old faster than anything else Sims game. For example, The Sims 4 updates have been going strong for years, helping it thrive for over a decade. However, some Sims Medieval players have made mods over the years to help with this problem.
It's not the first time The Sims Medieval has been removed from an online store either. The Sims Medieval was removed from Steam back in 2016. Since then, the game has only been available for purchase online through the EA store. What makes the company's decision even more surprising is that medieval sim games are enjoying a bit of a renaissance. Between games that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Manor lordsand Crusader Kings 3there is a solid audience for games that focus on living a medieval life.

For now it looks like The Sims Medieval will remain delisted for the foreseeable future. It's unclear if EA plans to release an official statement explaining its reasons for the delisting, but that could be wishful thinking. Government of The Sims' medieval simulation games have most likely reached their permanent end of the road. The Sims Medieval may have been one Sims spin-off that flew under the radar for some life sim fans, but those who have already bought the game will hopefully now be able to appreciate this underrated entry even more.
