Silent Hill 2 Developer Bloober Team has released a brand new update for the 2024 remake, which aims to address a host of issues on both PlayStation 5 and PC, with the most notable being a fix for graphical glitches on the PS5 Pro. While Sony's new flagship console promised a better visual experience for many triple-A titles such as Silent Hill 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Marvel's Spider-Manand more, a plethora of players have experienced a variety of graphical issues since Pro's launch earlier this month.
Along with a host of other massive titles, the 2024 remake of Silent Hill 2 have been experiencing severe graphical issues on the PS5 Pro. Although Bloober Team's remake of this classic Konami game has received much praise from critics and gamers alike, the community was disappointed with the PS5 Pro launch after discovering many graphical issues such as shimmering shadows and flickering reflections. In a new YouTube video, the Digital Foundry team discovered that there was a “clear problem” with its PSSR implementation that ultimately led to a better experience on the base PS5. Fortunately, a new patch seems to have fixed these issues for Pro users.

Silent Hill 2 Remake Ups the Ante for Resident Evil 9's Rumored Open World
With rumors circulating that RE9 is open world, Silent Hill 2's more claustrophobic approach offers a challenge to its competitor.
Bloober Team has officially deployed a new patch update for Silent Hill 2 on November 22, with patch 1.06 now available for download on both PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. While there are a plethora of fixes for both the console and PC versions of the game, the PS5 Pro version of Silent Hill 2 which will probably benefit the most from the latest update. According to the official patch notes, which can be found further down in this article, Bloober Team has “fixed some graphics bugs on PlayStation 5 Pro.” It's currently unclear how much of an improvement the November 22 update will have, but players should hopefully find fewer texture issues on the new console after downloading and installing patch 1.06.
While today's update is good news for Silent Hill 2 fans, it's not the only triple-A title experiencing issues with Sony's mid-generation console update. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 players are also reporting graphical glitches on the PS5 Pro, with textures shimmering when the game is in 60 FPS mode. Even some of PlayStation's first-party titles, such as Marvel's Spider-Man, are said to have encountered similar issues, with many speculating that the console's PSSR feature is the main cause. According to Sony, PSSR, which is short for PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, allows for “super sharp image sharpness” by using machine learning to improve resolution while maintaining the same performance, but it appears to be causing a host of problems for the console.
The console itself has been a controversial addition to the PlayStation 5 family, and while many developers have chosen to support it with new patches, CD Projekt Red recently confirmed that it would not be releasing a PS5 Pro patch for Cyberpunk 2077its hugely popular open world action RPG. However, there are a wide range of other titles that are releasing PS5 Pro updates, including God of War Ragnarok, Alan Wake 2, Hogwarts Legacyand many more.
