Scary new horror game coming to Steam just in time for Halloween

Massacre at the Miragea new first-person horror game from developer Tainted Pact, will be released on Steam on October 28, 2024. Players don't have to wait until that date to start experiencing Massacre at the Miragethe excitement is, however, as both a demo of the game and a free prologue are available now.

Announced in April 2024, Massacre at the Mirage sends players to The Mirage, a movie theater in the “picturesque town” of Crimson Ridge. However, this is no average trip to the cinema, as fans of psychological horror will soon pass through the theater's dark corridors and fight for survival against a killer disguised as a clown. This struggle for survival is presented from multiple perspectives, with players taking control of the theater's staff and its patrons.

A brand new horror game on Steam debuts to “Overwhelmingly Positive” reviews, indicating widespread acclaim among its community.

Gamers who want to take this terrifying journey to the cinema will be able to do so when Massacre at the Mirage launches for PC (via Steam) on October 28. While the game's release price has yet to be revealed, the Steam description indicates that the experience will cost “less than the price of a movie ticket.” It is also unconfirmed if the title will be verified with Steam Deck. Developer Tainted Pact's last two games, Terror at Oakheart and Suffer the nighthowever, are “playable” on the Steam Deck, and it's reasonable to expect that Massacre at the Mirage will follow.

Massacre at Mirage Demo available now

For those players who want to try Massacre at the Mirage ahead of its release on October 28th, there is currently a demo available on Steam. The Massacre at the Mirage demo was released as part of the ongoing Steam Next Fest, which will end on October 21st at 10:00am PDT. Thus, horror video game fans interested in trying out the demo should download it without delay, as it may not be available for very long.

Additionally, there is a free prologue (Manny's Murderous Movie Theater) which gives players yet another opportunity to become familiar with the world of Massacre at the Mirage before it is released. In the prologue, fans of indie horror take control of a snack bar attendant at The Mirage, and it's their job to serve the customers who approach the counter. It is specifically indicated that this snack bar simulator will be bundled with the game's story mode for its full release, although players can find Manny's Murderous Movie Theater on Steam now if they don't want to wait for October 28th to arrive.
