Resident Evil 4 Remake Gets Co-Op Multiplayer

Fans of Resident Evil 4 remake who have wished they could play it with friends are in luck, as a new mod has added that ability to the game. The mod allows players to take control of one Resident Evil 4 redo the character and play through the campaign together with Leon.

A new mod called Resident Evil 4 Multiplayer has been released by modder claybtv and is available for download now. The mod allows two copies of Resident Evil 4 remake on PC to sync, placing a second player in the campaign. For example, one player can be Leon while another can play as Wesker or Ashley, and even playing with two Leons is possible. Enemies, events, switches, and so on are synchronized, so it should be possible to play through the entire campaign with two players.

However, players should be aware that the mod is currently in beta, so there are some technical hiccups, especially with lag and stuttering enemy movement. Players must also coordinate with each other to set up the mod, as both players must be in the same place in the game before syncing. Some areas are particularly problematic, such as the fight against Del Lago. Also, the game pauses for the other player to access the inventory, so that's also something to consider. But the simple fact that Resident Evil 4 remake now being playable with a co-op partner is an impressive feat, and one that many players will likely enjoy.

Unfortunately for console players, this mod is not available on any system other than PCs. On the official multiplayer front, there have been rumors of one Resident Evil 5 remake for a long time, but so far nothing official has appeared from Capcom. The last revealed Resident Evil the game will be the upcoming Resident Evil: Veronicaa remake of the classic Code: Veronica game that players have been asking for over the years. It has also been argued that a Resident Evil Zero remake is in development, but it has not been confirmed. While both games feature more than one protagonist, there is currently no indication that either will have a co-op mode.
