Greedfall II: The Dying Worldfirst announced on May 18, 2022, is a prequel to 2019's Greedfall that explores the “old world” seen briefly during the latter's prologue. Players take on the role of a native Teer Fradee who, after being uprooted and sent to Gacane, must regain their freedom and take control of their destiny. Navigating the political schemes of countless factions, players must find a way to thwart a scheme of conquest that could doom both the Old World and Teer Fradee.
In February 2024, Greed IIs developer, Spiders, announced that the game would be made available in Early Access this summer. After a limited playtest period in April and the release of a gameplay trailer in mid-May, we finally got a confirmation of the June 11th Early Access release date.
Release Time
Greedfall 2: The Dying World is scheduled to launch into Early Access on September 24, 2024. According to the Steam store page, the developers plan to update the game regularly during Early Access, with the Early Access build expected to represent approximately 30% of the final game's content. Probably because of this, the game is planned to be sold at a lower price during Early Access compared to the full release.
In the early release of the game, players will be able to create their character and choose from a variety of skills, experience the beginning of the game and its story, and navigate multiple regions. Players can recruit their first companions and explore the regional quest and fortress systems, interacting with NPCs in a variety of ways both old and new to players of the original. The Early Access Roadmap (see image above) indicates that the start of the main quest and three of the game areas will be available at launch, with six companions to recruit and six skill trees to utilize.
