For example, Persona 5's Joker is canonically known as Ren Amamiya, while Persona 3 Reload's hero is Makoto Yuki. While Atlus' latest game, Metaphor: ReFantazio does some things differently with its hero (including giving them full-color lines for the first time), it also has a default name option for the protagonist.

As confirmed by RPG Site, Metaphor: ReFantazio's default player name can be revealed by changing some settings in the configuration menu. If you change your text language, Metaphor will default to the name of the player and the protagonist's name, confirming what it is intended to be in Atlus' eyes.

For the player name, it simply defaults to “You”, which makes sense, but for the main character's name, it has been changed to “Will” in English, Japanese, Korean, and Chinesesuggesting that it is the overall standard name for the hero. There are some variations, such as the Spanish edition's default name being “Victor”, but most of them point to it being Will.

My absolute favorite of the bunch is the standard Portuguese name, which is “Pedro”. A fitting name for a ruler, to be sure.

All of this suggests that the official canonical name for the hero of Metaphor: ReFantazio is Will, although the second name is currently unknown. It's not clear if Atlus will officially confirm this at any point, but it has previously revealed the names of its heroes in any manga or anime adaptation of its games.

That said, it's worth remembering that there have been a few different interpretations of the names of the Atlus protagonists in the past. Persona 3's hero was referred to as Minato in the manga adaptation of the game, before being referred to as Makoto in the anime adaptation and mostly across official media. For now, though, it looks like we can safely say that Metaphor's main character is named Will.
