Overwatch Hero 52 Officially Revealed

Blizzard has officially revealed Monitorings latest hero, Shion, in a new movie trailer. Hero 52 Shion is a new Damage hero that will be joining Monitoring list with the release of Reign of Talon Season 3 on June 16, 2026. She is a humanoid omnic character affiliated with the Hashimoto clan and aligned with Talon in their conquest against Overwatch.

Monitoring is in the middle of its year-long content roadmap, called Reign of Talon. As part of this roadmap, each new season of Monitoring introduces a brand new hero for players to enjoy. While specific details about Shion's kit are sparse at the moment, players won't have to wait long to get their hands on the new hero with the start of Season 3 right around the corner.

It's been over 1,100 days since Overwatch quietly scrapped a feature that should never have left

Overwatch may be in a very good place at the moment, but that doesn't mean things can't get better, and reviving a small feature would be a blessing.

Hero 52 Shion Officially Confirmed for Overwatch Reign of Talon Season 3

Shion debuted in the new “End of the Line” cinematic trailer where she helps the Hashimoto clan prevent Overwatch's Sojourn from obtaining weapons en route to the Talon's leader, Vendetta. While no gameplay has been shared for Shion yet, this trailer suggests that she will dual wield pistols and have some sort of mobility, given her status as a fast Damage hero. The weapon teased at the end of her trailer could be used for her Ultimate, but it's also possible that the motorcycle Shion rides through the trailer could also be integrated into her kit.

Shion is not the first Hashimoto clan member to join Monitoring the list. The Talon-aligned faction already added Support hero Mizuki as a playable character earlier this year, giving Hashimoto two representatives in one year to bolster Talon's allies during its ongoing reign. The Hashimoto clan has been opposed to Monitoring even before its Talon alignment, as longtime enemies of the Shimada clan that Genji and Hanzo hail from.

Except for Shion, then Monitoring dropped the “2” from its title and started the Reign of Talon arc, the game has added seven new heroes, including

  • Domina — Tank, Talon Aligned

  • Anran — Damage, Overwatch Aligned

  • Emre — Damage, Talon Aligned

  • Mizuki — Support, Talon Aligned

  • Jetpack Cat — Support, Overwatch Aligned

  • Sierra — Damage, monitoring adjusted

  • Shion — Damage, Talon targeted

After the addition of Sierra in the previous Monitoring season, Shion will mark the fourth Damage hero added to the game this year. Blizzard teased the new heroes coming Monitoring for the rest of 2026 with artwork showing multiple characters in silhouette. Of these remaining undiscovered heroes, it looks like players can expect at least one more tank, along with two more Support or Damage heroes. There still seems to be a lot more in store Monitoring throughout 2026 as the game continues to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
