One Piece officially sets up two new Hito Hito no Mi after Elbaf

Hito Hito no Mi was officially introduced in One Piece Chapter 138 of June 5, 2000 in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #27. 26 years have passed since then, and Hito Hito no Mi continues to grow in importance in the overall storyline of One Piece.

In Paramount War, specifically in Chapter 571, Eiichiro Ohara expanded the concept of Hito Hito no Mi by introducing the Daibutsu model, which was practiced by Sengoku, on January 25, 2010. Years later, in One Piece Chapter 1044, which was officially revealed on March 23, 2022, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #17, One Piece officially presented Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. Now, deep into the climax of the Elbaf arc, Eiichiro Oda has officially set up the reveal of two more Hito Hito no Mi after the conclusion of Elbaf, making for an incredibly exciting storyline that we can't wait to see.

When One Piece revealed the power of Hito Hito no Mi, model: Nika, it opened the door to a whole new world of possibilities in the story. Immediately after this revelation, we tied this exciting piece of information pertaining to the gods One Piece world to chapter 287 of the manga, which was officially released in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump issues #37-38 on August 11, 2003. In this incredible chapter of the story, Eiichiro Oda revealed the existence of various world gods. At the time, we mostly assumed that these gods were myths that existed in One Piece world. Now, with a category of mythic Zoan types bringing myths to life, all of these gods are slowly becoming real. One Piece Chapter 287 officially introduced us to the Earth God, Forest God, Rain God, and Sun God.

“God of the sun, god of the rain, god of the forest, god of the earth, take this woman's blood and save our village from disaster.” — Shandian Elder, One Piece Chapter #287

In One Piece chapter 1182, released on May 10, 2026, in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #24, Eiichiro Oda officially introduced the Rain God to us. Immediately after this revelation, it became clear that all the gods in chapter 287 really exist in the world of One Piece.

“Appearing to the rhythm of the prayers for rain… Rain God Zaza!” — Saint Killingham, One Piece Chapter #1182

Since two of the four gods have already been revealed, it is highly likely that the other two gods will appear after the Elbaf Arc ends. Thus, the final saga of Eiichiro Oda's One Piece will reveal all four gods first teased in One Piece chapter 287, giving way to the reveal of the Hito Hito no Mi Forest God model as well as the Hito Hito no Mi Earth God model.

“Possessing a body with the powers of rubber and fighting in any way he wants, bringing smiles to people, the warrior of liberation…also known as the sun god, Nika!” – The Gorosei explains Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika in One Piece Chapter #1044

Why the rain god, the forest god and the earth god will finally reveal themselves after Elbaf

Right now, Monkey D. Luffy is the only person confirmed to be a user of a Hito Hito no Mi God model. But Rain God Zaza has already been confirmed to exist in the world of One Piece in chapter 1182, which means someone already has this Devil Fruit or the fruit is lying around waiting for someone to come and eat it. Given that all of these fruits are Zoan, only the person with the right personality match can consume it, which was confirmed in Chapter 1044 on March 23, 2026.

“It's as if the Devil Fruit is trying to escape our grasp, and it may well be. Zoan fruits contain a will of their own, and this particular fruit has the name of a God.” — The Five Elders Explain Why They Couldn't Get the Nika Fruit, One Piece Chapter #1044

As such, Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza is either intended for someone who opposes the World Government and has used the power of winds and rain, like Dragon, or someone who has a thematic connection to the concept of rain, like Nefertari Vivi. Besides Zaza, there are two more God Hito Hito no Mi versions that will be introduced in the final saga of One Piece. These are the Hito Hito no Mi Forest God version and the Earth God version. None of these Devil Fruits have been revealed so far, but it will be interesting to see who Eiichiro Oda assigns them to when they are introduced later, after the conclusion of One Piece's Elbaf arch.

As it stands, Eiichiro Oda has already confirmed it One Piece will begin their next arc in 2026 and that this arc will take the Straw Hat Pirates to the Final Island in the Grand Line. Although the wording here suggests that this island is Laugh Tale, it could also be Lodestar Island, which is known to be the last island in the Grand Line itself where Roger and his crew officially learned about the Poneglyphs, as explained in Chapter 966, which was officially released in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #24-520 on December 14-520. incredibly exciting and will likely introduce the other variants of Hito Hito no Mi to us.

“It all started 13 years ago, when we landed at the destination of the last logpost, where no one had ever reached before…a place called Lodestar Island! But as we disembarked, giddy at what we could find…we realized it wasn't the last island!” — Gol D. Roger explains Lodestar, One Piece Chapter #966

The Final Saga of Eiichiro Oda's One Piece is heavily focused on gods, as evidenced by Monkey D. Luffy's role as the sun god Nika. Along with him is the warrior god Nidhoggr, the devil god Nerona Imu, the rain god Zaza, and now two more god apparitions come after the conclusion of the Elbaf arc. Apparently, One Piece's Great War, which was heavily teased in Chapter 1146 by Gunko on April 21, 2025, will most likely see all of these major gods play a significant role, with potentially even the Hellfire Serpent, which was teased in One Piece Chapter 1138 titled “Harley” on 2025, also playing a role in 2025.

We're eager to see how all of these gods, especially those whose powers derive from the Hito Hito no Mi variants, affect the story moving forward. Just like in the Void Century 800 years ago, their powers will make or break the world of One Piece in the final stage of the story, paving the way for a new world order to emerge, for better or for worse. Monkey D. Luffy, the protagonist of the series, is central to it all. Either way, expect an exciting experience ahead, and Eiichiro Oda will definitely not disappoint.
