Nintendo will open a new restaurant later in 2026, in the fall. The new restaurant will feature themes and decorations based on classic Nintendo series such as Metroid and The Legend of Zelda.
Over the years, a number of Nintendo-themed restaurants have opened. To name just a few examples, a recurring Kirby-themed cafe has appeared in Japan several times, and a cafe called Hatena Burger is offered at the Nintendo Museum in Japan. With obvious popularity among fans, a new option is coming in the near future.

Nintendo is opening a new restaurant
Nintendo has officially announced that they are opening a new restaurant called Super Family Restaurant at the Nintendo Museum in Uji, Japan. The title is a play on the original Japanese name of the SNES, Super Family Computer or Super Famicom. In addition to revealing the name and logo and that it will open in the fall, some pictures of the restaurant's interior have been shared. So far, most of it looks like a regular sit-down diner, but there is some notable Nintendo theming in the form of a bust of Samus' Power Suit, a replica of the Master Sword, and what appears to be a life-size statue of Link from Breath of the Wild. The official Nintendo Museum account announced that a variety of menus will be offered, which will include both food and desserts.

Fans of Nintendo intending to visit the museum before the Super Family Restaurant opens are out of luck, as the aforementioned Hatena Burger cafe is located there, and is currently open. While the menu is likely to be more limited than what will eventually be offered at Super Family Restaurant, the location offers similar themes, particularly based on Mario franchise, with some Animal Crossing and Zelda decorations are also included. No announcement has been made about its closure, so presumably the cafe and the upcoming restaurant will co-exist.
Originally announced back in 2021, the Nintendo Museum opened to the public in 2024. It's a unique look at the life of Nintendo, as the museum showcases interactive experiences, workshops and an insight into Nintendo's history that goes all the way back to before the company produced video games. The museum is located on the same site as a facility that Nintendo once owned, where they once made trading cards and repaired their products, so those interested in Nintendo's long history will have a lot to enjoy there, whether they visit the cafe, the restaurant, or skip the two eateries altogether.
For those who can't make it all the way to Japan to visit, there are still some great options for Nintendo-themed food and restaurants in the US that are open year-round: Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Epic Universe Orlando. In addition to theme park attractions based on Super Mario Bros., fans can visit Toadstool Cafe or Power Up Cafe for food and snacks based on the series. Super Nintendo World is also available at Universal Studios Japan.
