Fallout: New Vegas Has a slightly hidden trick to handle Caesars Legion at Cottonwood Cove by overwhelming local legionaries with radioactive barrels. This easy to miss detail has recently surprised even a prolonged Fallout: New Vegas fans.
The only item in Fall-out Franchise made by Obsidian Entertainment will celebrate the 15th anniversary on October 19. Even though it is one and a half decade, Fallout: New Vegas Still has an active player community, with only its Steam version that tops over 5,000 simultaneous users on June 22.

In the latest evidence of the game's replayability, some Fallout: New Vegas Fans were recently surprised to know that there is an easier way to handle Caesars Legion at Cottonwood Cove than just taking out the local patrols. As highlighted by the Reddit user Vile35, most enemies in this area can be neutralized by unlocking a dilapidated truck placed at the Cottonwood view -a suitable named place that is above the bay. By doing so, releases a cascade of radioactive waste dishes, which quickly eliminates the legionaries below.
VILE35's tips collected almost 4,000 Upvotes within a few hours after they went live at the end of June 2025 and quickly reached the front of R/Fallout Subreddit. Even some self -described Fall-out: New Vegas Veterans who chimped into this discovery admitted that they were not aware of this alternative approach to Cottonwood Cove, and expressed admiration that the game still finds ways to surprise them almost 15 years after its original edition.

What VILE35's feature films don't make it clear is that releasing radioactive waste at Cottonwood Cove comes with a requirement of at least level 50 in Fallout: New Vegas Lockpick skills. High perception is building should have some problems with meeting this threshold, while others can rely on clothing bonuses and temporary per increase from consumables as mentates to unlock the dilapidated truck that carries the deadly load.
Release of the barrels triggers a script sequence where even legionaries that are not initially not close to start rushing towards the player's place. Most – or all – of them die in the process, a spectacle that can certainly be observed at a distance. While the cursor Lucullus, Caesars Legion Ferryman, usually survives this trial, players can still reach Caesars fort without him by interacting with the fleet at the end of Cove's though.
