On July 3, 2026, during the Crunchyroll stage at Anime Expo 2026, Solo Leveling officially got their biggest new project in the form of a movie. After the conclusion of Solo Leveling Season 2, we didn't know what was next for the franchise. While some reports indicated Season 3, others suggested a movie would be next. Finally, at Anime Expo 2026, Solo Leveling: Beyond the System was officially announced as a sequel to season 2 in the form of a theatrical release.
This new film will put Sung Jinwoo, the protagonist of the series, through his toughest challenges yet, pitting him against the greatest enemy he has ever faced in the form of Kandiaru, an incredibly strong fighter, but more importantly, the figure who set Jinwoo on his path to becoming the Shadow Monarch.
Solo Leveling: Beyond The System Will Pit Sung Jinwoo Vs His Strongest Enemy 'Kandiaru'
Solo Leveling Beyond The System is set to follow up the events of the Jeju Island Arc, meaning the next two arcs of the Solo Leveling web novel and Manhwa will be adapted into the movie. Given that this isn't a full-season adaptation, there won't be many arcs covered by this movie. The most likely frames that will certainly be adjusted are:

Ahjin Guild Arc, which immediately follows the Jeju Island Arc and spans chapters 111-122 of the Manhwa.

The Double Dungeon Arc, which begins in Solo Leveling Manwa chapter 122 and ends in chapter 133.
Of the two, The Double Dungeon Arc is the one we're most excited about, given that this arc will take us back to the beginning of Solo Leveling, where Sung Jinwoo visited the Cartenon Temple and was destroyed by the Statue of God. This time in the upcoming movie, the Statue of God, as well as all the mysteries surrounding it, will finally be answered, and we absolutely cannot wait for that. In response to these mysteries, Solo Leveling: Beyond The System will officially reveal Sung Jinwoo's strongest enemy to date in the form of Kandiaru, also known as The Architect of the System.

When Solo Leveling began, we didn't know who created The System in the first place and why Sung Jinwoo was chosen as the man to wield this power. In this upcoming installment of the franchise, all these questions will be officially answered through Kandiaru, and we will also get to see a glimpse of his immense power. So far in his journey, Sung Jinwoo has faced the Ant King as his strongest enemy. However, Kandiaru will go a level above that, not only because of the strength he wields himself but because of the debuffs he will put on Jinwoo during their battle. As the creator of The System, Kandiaru can easily manipulate these debuffs to weaken Jinwoo, and all of this is to orchestrate his greatest plan, which is to bring back Ashborn, the original Shadow Monarch, whose restoration he planned for from the beginning.
Why Kandiaru surpasses Ant King from Jeju Island
The Ant King from Jeju Island was incredibly powerful, and the fact that he dismantled the vast majority of powerful S-Rank Hunters, including Japan's Goto Ryuji, is proof of that. Kandiaru is a level above him though. Kandiaru fully manipulates powerful statues, such as the Statue of God, and has many others at his disposal. To even get to Kandiaru, Sung Jinwoo must get through these powerful forces first. However, what makes this battle even more difficult is the fact that Kandiaru can basically put debuffs on Sung Jinwoo.
By removing his ability to use his shadow army and severely limiting him in terms of what he can use in battle, he makes Jinwoo much weaker and essentially becomes a threatening challenge to him. Even when Sung Jinwoo bests the statue of God, Kandiaru himself stands as a mighty challenge, and this new battle in the upcoming Solo Leveling movie will be the first time that Sung Jinwoo will face death himself. If luck hadn't gone his way, Sung Jinwoo could basically die in this battle, which adds to the threat he faces from Kandiaru in the new movie and hypes us up even more for what's to come.
Sung Jinwoo will emerge stronger than ever from his upcoming Solo Leveling Movie Battle
While “Solo Leveling: Beyond the System” will pit Sung Jinwoo against his biggest foe yet in the form of Kandiaru, it will also do him a huge favor by giving him some of the biggest power-ups. In the battle against Kandiaru, Solo Leveling's protagonist will finally understand why he was chosen to be the leader of The System and why he must become the Shadow Monarch. Meanwhile, Ashborn himself will also make an appearance in this film, and ultimately it is his betrayal that leads to the defeat of Kandiaru. In the process, Sung Jinwoo will gain his biggest power-up of all time, pushing him to a whole new level in terms of strength. This new power-up comes in the form of The Black Heart, who we're eagerly awaiting to see animated in the A1 Pictures and Aniplex adaptation.
With the power of The Black Heart, Sung Jinwoo will not only rise above the other hunters in the world Solo Levelingbut at the same time become strong enough to fight the likes of other monarchs as well. No matter how we look at it, Solo Leveling: Beyond the System will be Sung Jinwoo's biggest challenge, and it will also make him take the biggest step towards becoming the strongest in the world.
