Solo Leveling Season 1 made its grand debut in January 2024, and since then it has become an extremely popular series that fans look forward to watching every year. Due to the success of Season 1 in January 2024 we were offered a second Solo Leveling season one year later in January 2025. The popularity of Solo Leveling continues to grow, but for a while we had no idea what to expect about the future of the franchise. Finally, today, a year and a half since Season 2 aired, we know Solo Leveling is reportedly making a comeback in 2027 with a new movie – “Solo Leveling: Beyond The System.”
Now, at Anime Expo 2026, on July 3, 2026, it has been officially confirmed that Solo Leveling's the next project is officially a movie adaptation. Instead of a simple third season, we now have a full-fledged theatrical release for the franchise, which is incredibly exciting, to say the least. The film is expected to be released next year, and while we don't yet know what it will cover, we expect the Double Dungeon Arc to be adapted based on the film's title alone.

Solo Leveling had humble beginnings, starting as a novel by Chugong in South Korea in 2016. Through Chugong's compelling storytelling, the story eventually went on to be picked up and made into a Manhwa story by Redice Studio in 2018, which would become the basis for future projects for the story. Finally, in 2024, Aniplex and A-1 Pictures took on the challenge of bringing this story to life, and needless to say, it was one of the best releases of the year. Both Solo Leveling Season 1 in January 2024 and Solo Leveling Season 2 in January 2025 were huge hits.
Solo Leveling Season 2 aired its final episode, episode 13, on March 29, 2025. The wait has been long, as we've all been waiting for the announcement of a new project, and finally more information has emerged about what's next for the franchise. According to a new report that surfaced on July 3, 2026, Solo Leveling has a new movie project dated for release in 2027, known as “Solo Leveling: Beyond the System.”
This has yet to be officially confirmed by the studio, but it feels like a possibility as it lines up with the previous committee report published by A-1 Pictures themselves in November 2025, which clearly stated that the studio was considering a film due to the success of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle. At the moment, information is very limited, but with Anime Expo 2026 starting today, new information may be officially announced soon. Solo Leveling has its own stage at the event on July 4th, 2026, between 10:30 AM and 11:20 AM PDT, located at the JW Marriott Diamond Ballroom.

Solo Leveling's theatrical release will hit Japan in 2027 and may adapt the Ah Jin Guild and Double Dungeon Arcs
We still don't know much about Solo Leveling: Beyond the Systembut from what the reports suggest, the next project is promising. right now, Solo Leveling: Beyond The System is expected to be released sometime in 2027, at least in Japan. Previously, the November committee report seemed to indicate that the studio wanted the film in 2026, but that clearly seems impossible now that the year is halfway over. 2027 seems like a more realistic date, and we can't wait for more information to emerge soon.
Information about the upcoming Solo Leveling movie is limited, but we do know that it will be directed by Yoshihiro Kanno. It's possible that the story of “Solo Leveling: Beyond the System” will be a new original, never-before-seen story, as is the case with The Apothecary Diaries' new film from 2026, but based on this name, it could be a theatrical release that adapts a fan-favorite arc.
The title name, 'Beyond the System', seems to hint at the Manhwa's dual dungeon arc. In the Double Dungeon arc, Sung Jinwoo is left without the powers in his system due to the Architect's interference. Until further information is revealed, this arc seems like the most likely possibility, but we hope to see a trailer, or at least a key image with the official announcement. The Double Dungeon arc spans from chapters 123 to 131 of the manhwa. However, if the Double Dungeon arc is adapted, it is very likely that the Ah Jin Guild arc, which covers chapters 111 to 122, will also be adapted. We are incredibly excited about the official announcement of this report, and hopefully Solo Leveling will grow even more in popularity with this release.
