New game has serious GBA vibes

Fans of retro games have a new game to look forward to that have serious GBA vibes: Pipistrello and the cursed yoyo. Retro Gaming covers a huge period of time that extends all the way from the very first video games to Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. But in general, when people think of retro, they imagine pixels, bright colors and digitally generated sound. Pocket Trap is upcoming Pipistrello and the cursed yoyo Fits right into that description.

The 2D top-down adventure game, Pipistrello and the cursed yoyo claim the title First Yoyovania. By conducting a city with four distinct neighborhoods and associated crime to take down, the player practices a yoyo both as a weapon and a useful navigation tool. Learning smart new tricks throughout Playthrough will enable the protagonist Pippit to reach seemingly inaccessible places, overcome challenges and loose puzzles.

Nintendo Switch Online Adding New GBA Games

Nintendo Switch Online adds another game to its directory, and the name will be familiar with players from Game Boy Advance era.

Pocket Trap and Publisher PM Studio have announced that Pipistrello and the cursed yoyo will release for PC, Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4 and 5 and Xbox Series X/S on May 28, 2025. Pre -orders are already open, and a demo is currently available to those who are eager to check it out. To get the physical version of the game, fans will have to grab the collector's edition, which also comes with a Pippit plushie. The promo image shows only a PS5 and Switch Box, so it is unclear if there will be an Xbox or PC version of Collector's Edition.

Pipistrello and the cursed Yoyo: a modern game with a retro feeling

For those who do not know, a pipistrelle (Pipistrello in Italian) is an adorable microbat whose egg -shaped body only reaches about two inches long. In the story-driven, retro-style experience of Pipistrello and the damned yoyo, Pippit Bat is commissioned to restore his family's prestige after his aunt has been abducted. Along the way he can collect 20 passive upgrades and over 40 marks to equip, and the various possible combinations will give the determined pipistrello different abilities or change its Yoyo's behavior. In addition, there are more than 80 collectibles, such as life upgrades and other goodies, hidden throughout the city.

Developer Pocket Trap is a small Brazilian indie studio founded in 2013. So far it has released Dodgeball Academy and Ninjin: collision of carrotsBoth with a zany, colorful and lighter feeling. The company also gathered the animated series Ninjin For Cartoon Network Brazil and HBO Max.
