Important takeaways
- Introduce larger game modes for a new experience.
- Improvements are needed for Semtex to remain profitable.
- Consider adding old maps for a mix of past and present.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 delivers the solid FPS action the series is known for. Fans won't be disappointed with what the 2024 game has to offer, and the fact that it's a throwback to Black Ops name for the first time since 2020 may attract some players who haven't engaged with the series in a while.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 – Best weapons for the subsonic map
Subsonic is one of the smaller maps in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6; here are the best weapons to use on it.
Despite all that, there are still some changes that should come and further improve the experience. Given the seasonal format of post-launch content, there's a chance that some of the suggestions below could very well make it into the game.
6 A large-scale game mode
Bigger isn't always better, but it's nice to have
Very Black Ops 6's multiplayer action is up close and personal. Some maps have open areas ripe for snipers, but the majority of matches are hectic shootouts between a few players. Call of Duty has always been known for this, but some of the games include larger game modes for up to 64 players.
The 2019s Modern warfare reintroduced Ground War as a large-scale battle between two teams on massive maps where players could use vehicles. This introduced a whole new way of thinking about the game and even loading. Black Ops 6 could benefit from Ground War to balance out the more compact battles that dominate multiplayer so far.
5 Semtex should leave the player's hand sooner
So they still travel if one dies during the roll
Semtex is a fantastic piece of lethal equipment. They stick to whatever surface they land on, including enemy players, and explode quickly. However, they have a tendency to flop into place if one is killed in the middle of throwing one.

Call Of Duty Black Ops 6: Best Weapons For Free-For-All Mode
From assault rifles to sniper rifles, find out which weapons will secure victory and rise to the top of the Black Ops 6 free-for-all leaderboard.
Frag Grenades travel if the player is killed when thrown, and they can often get a kill after death. Semtex must have the same luxury. Maybe it's meant to balance the fact that they detonate so quickly, but it still seems like a fair kill. Even if this drawback is not addressed, the Semtex remains an incredibly lethal piece of equipment that can lead to many deaths for players if used correctly.
Semtex doesn't start cooking until they reach their goal. This means players can throw them all the way across the map without worrying about them exploding in the air.
4 Old-School Fashion
Make it retro
With Black Ops 6's increased game speed thanks to the addition of Omnimovement, the game feels even more old-fashioned than Call of Duty games from the past. The smaller maps and high death toll are reminiscent of the hectic action to play TimeSplitters with ten bots on a small map. With this in mind, why not a full Old School Mode to further enjoy retro FPS sensibilities?
As of 2024, Old School mode has only been 2007 Modern warfare and the 2016 remaster. The Old School mode would not only be fun to play, but it would also give players an opportunity to experiment with different weapons and gain experience with them before unlocking them in level progression.
Players can still increase their weapon level outside of traditional multiplayer matches in the Zombies mode. That way, they can unlock certain attachments before bringing them to matches.
3 More ways to earn permanent unlock tokens
More than just prestige
When players prestige, they also unlock a permanent unlock token. This gives them permanent access to the weapon, equipment or perk even when they prestige and are back to level one. With only one per prestige, permanent unlocks are extremely valuable. It takes anywhere from ten to twenty hours to get just one.
There should be a way to earn a few more without devaluing them and making them too easy to obtain. The 2022 century Modern Warfare 2 had a complex weapon unlock system that encouraged players to use enough different weapons to unlock others, so perhaps something like that could go towards permanently unlocking weapons regardless of prestige.
2 More co-op modes
More ways to play as a team
When Zombies is good, it's a miracle that keeps on giving. Black Ops 6's version of Zombies is finely balanced and offers a difficulty curve that challenges players without feeling unfair. The Easter eggs are easy to pull off once discovered so that a run doesn't feel frustrating. Players who want more variety in their co-op offerings may get bored of zombies after a while.

Call Of Duty Black Ops 6: Best Guns For Gunfight Mode
With random loadouts, Gunfight Mode in Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is far from a cakewalk. Here are the weapons you can hope for when you play in.
It might not last them the whole year until next Call of Duty comes along. Why not take a cue from the previous one Call of Duty game and bring back Spec-Ops with more objective based objectives instead of just surviving waves of enemies? A survival mode with humanoid enemies shooting back would also be a fun diversion if Zombies gets tiresome.
1 Put more older maps into the rotation
Balance the new with the old
That's good Black Ops 6 has new maps, unlike last year's Modern Warfare 3 which recovered the levels from the 2009s Modern Warfare 2. Still, some love from the past would be much appreciated. After all, some of the older games are borderline unplayable for various reasons or have several other technical issues. It's hard to preserve games when it comes to single-player offline titles.
It becomes so much more difficult when multiplayer is involved. Bringing back old maps won't have the same feel as they did when they originally debuted, but at least players can play around in the same geometry even if the gameplay is different from the older title.
