Most powerful artifact sets to have in Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact's combat system is pretty easy to get the hang of. The game allows both casual and experienced players to enjoy its battles, with only two skills per character. But beneath the surface, the artifact sets that characters use to deal damage can be quite nuanced.

Genshin Influence: Each playable character's age, height, and birthday

We take a look at the age, height, birthday and background of all of Genshin Impact's playable characters, including the new Natlan residents.

With all the different effects these sets can give your team, as well as how much grinding you need to do for a single good piece, it's easy to waste hours upon hours without improving your team. As such, it's best that you understand what Genshin Impact's best Artifact sets are for whatever team you're aiming to build.

Emblem of Severed Fate / Golden Squad

Best for off field DPS characters

Golden Troupe and Emblem of Severed Fate in Genshin Impact.

Characters that can deal massive amounts of damage without ever taking the field are some of the strongest in the game. For most of these, such as Xiangling, Yelan, Xingqiu and many more, Emblem of the Severed Fate is more than just a good fit. Its ability to buff Elemental Burst DMG based on how much Energy Recharge you have gives characters enough Energy to Burst each rotation, without sacrificing any damage.

For characters that use their skills instead of their Bursts, Golden Troupe also works great. It buffs your Elemental Skill DMG, with the buff increasing if you stay off the field. This plays into Fischl, Albedo, and many other strong DPS characters' kits, making them compete with your fielder's damage.

9

Noblesse Oblige / Firmness of the Millelite

Best for general support

Milileth's stubbornness and Noblesse Oblige in Genshin Impact.

Noblesse Oblige is one of the most used sets in Genshin Impact, and is in most circumstances the best-in-castle for any support that uses their Elemental Burst, like Bennett. While its ability to buff ATK might not be useful for HP scalers, it's still a great supporting set for most of the cast.

Tenacity of the Millelith works in a similar way, buffing your team's ATK when certain conditions are met. But instead of it being locked behind an Elemental Burst, it requires you to consistently deal damage with your Elemental Skill, something supports that Zhongli can do with ease.

8

Gladiator's Finale / Shimenawa's Reminiscence

Best for normal or charged attack users

Gladiator's Finale and Shimenawa's Reminiscence in Genshin Impact.

Gladiator is one of Genshin Impact's original sets. Its simple ability allows sword, claymore, and polearm users to deal increased Normal Attack DMG, making it a strong choice for characters like Diluc.

The best DPS characters in Genshin Impact, ranked

Genshin Impact has an ever-growing cast, but not all of them can deal serious damage. Here are the best DPS options, ranked.

Shimenawa's Reminiscence is perhaps a better version of Gladiator, which also buffs Charged Attack DMG. However, the downside of it being only usable by certain weapon users is removed and replaced with one that drains your character's energy to activate the effect.

7

Virdescent Venuses

Best for Anemo characters

Viridescent Veneers in Genshin Impact.

Anemo characters are some of the most sought after from a meta standpoint. This is due to their ability to use Viridescent Venerer's Shred effect, which greatly reduces enemy RES to all Swirled elements.

Viridescent Venerer only takes effect when the equipping character is on the field. Prolonged abilities like Venti or Kazuha's Elemental Bursts don't trigger it when they're not on the field.

What makes this set important is how universal its buff is. It helps both HP and ATK scalers and buffs almost all elements. As long as you're not playing against a Geo, Dendro, or Mono Anemo team, equipping someone with a full Viridescent Venerer set will definitely increase your team's overall DPS significantly.

6

The exile/instructor

Best three-star artifacts

The exile and instructor in Genshin Impact.

Three-star artifacts are generally better discarded when you find better alternatives. This is because they only reach level 16, giving them significantly lower stats than true four-star artifacts. They also have a smaller roll per each of the four parts you equip, giving you less chance of getting useful sub-stats.

However, some sets can still be worthwhile, especially on characters that don't need a ton of HP or ATK to peel off. The Exile set energizes your entire team when the equipped character uses their Burst, making it the perfect choice for supporters like Gorou in energy-hungry teams. The Instructor, on the other hand, gives your team Elemental Mastery, making it a great choice for any team that uses Elemental Reactions.

5

Gilded dreams / Paradise Lost

Best for Bloom, Hyperbloom and Burgeon

Gilded Dreams and the Flower of Paradise lost in Genshin Impact.

The Gilded Dreams set came along with Dendro and Deepwood Memories. Since Deepwood's RES shred didn't stack, you just want one party member to carry it usually. As such, the Gilded Dream's ability to greatly increase your elemental mastery is what you put on every other member of a Dendro team.

Create the perfect Hyperbloom team by choosing these characters that we've ranked based on their abilities.

Flower of Paradise Lost is technically a better set for Bloom, Hyperbloom and Burgeon teams specifically, but the actual difference isn't that big. Flower of Paradise Lost also doesn't work in Aggravate or Quicken teams, another disadvantage to its alternatives.

4

Marechaussee Hunter

Best for Fontaine DPS characters, or if you have Furina

Marechausse Hunter in Genshin Impact.

Marachaussee Hunter is Fontaine's signature set. As such, it's no surprise that it's the best set to put on pretty much any Fontaine DPS. Its effect increases your CRIT Rate by 12 percent each time you take damage or are healed, up to a maximum of 36 percent.

If you use Marechaussee on a non-Fontaine character with Furina, you need a healer on your team to get Furina's Fanfare stacks.

Not only is such a high CRIT stat impossible to get any other way, but Fontaine characters have all the ways to change their HP, making it very easy to get all stacks instantly. Also, if you have Furina, even non-Fontaine characters like Hutao can use it due to Furina's HP drain mechanic.

Best for Natlan characters

Obsidian Codex and Cinder City in Genshin Impact.

Natlan's first set is arguably some of the strongest in the game. Obsidian Codex, like the Marechaussee, gives your active character an absolutely unmatched 40% CRIT rate, even higher than a fully stacked Marechaussee Hunter. However, since this can only work on Natlan characters, the power creep is somewhat understandable.

The Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City, or Hero of Cinder City for short, is the support version of the Obsidian Codex. The set's effect gives your team a DMG bonus for all elemental reactions triggered by the equipping character. While the normal 12 percent bonus is already quite useful, if you use this set on a Natlan character, it increases to a whopping 40 percent, making it rival Viridescent Venerer for the best support set in the game.

2

Deepwood memories

Best for Dendro Teams

Deepwood Memories in Genshin Impact.

The Viridescent Venerer set is so absurdly strong that Dendro not having access to it would have rendered them useless. Fortunately, the element came with Deepwood Memories, a set that reduces Dendro RES when it hits enemies.

On a Kinich team, putting Deepwood Memories on a defensive option like Dehya, or even an off-field DPS like Xiangling, can greatly increase Kinich's personal damage.

Not only is the set one of the best options for Dendro units, but can also be put on a support like Xingqiu to increase the damage your fielder deals, allowing you to put a better DPS set, like Maracehusse's Hunter, on your DPS .

1

Archaic Petra

Best underrated sets

Archaic Petra in Genshin Impact.

Archaic Petra was the signature set of Geo units before Geo's identity completely changed to scale away from DEF. Ever since Husk of Oppulent Dreams came out, Archaic Petra has seemingly disappeared from players' radars.

However, the set's effect is still extremely strong, just not for Geo teams. Archaic Petra's effect grants a massive 35% DMG bonus to your entire team for a single element when you pick up an Elemental Shard created through Crystalize. This is a bigger buff than Noblesse Oblige, and almost as good as Hero of Cinder City.
