Mastered Ultra Ego Will Be The Strongest Technique, And Here's Why

When Goku first unlocked his legendary Ultra Instinct transformation in Dragon Ball Super's Tournament of Power arc, fans believed that it was only a matter of time until Vegeta would do so as well. The main reason is that, until that point, the franchise had always followed a trend when it came to forms, with one person unlocking it and others following.

However, in arguably the best decision in the whole Dragon Ball Super series, the characters would turn away from shared transformations in order to pursue their own paths to power, with Vegeta choosing to do so with his incredible Ultra Ego form. Although there are some fixes to be made, here's how Mastered Ultra Ego could become the strongest form of them all.

In essence, Ultra Ego can most easily be defined as a Divine Transformation that acts as the mirror opposite to Ultra Instinct. In the Dragon Ball multiverse, Ultra Instinct is largely considered the greatest martial arts technique of them all, in which the user has to be completely calm of heart and mind in order for their body to avoid danger autonomously.

This is the inherent technique of the Angels. Since they are constantly in a state of Ultra Instinct, each of them is a martial arts master who also serves as a teacher to their God of Destruction. Although Destroyers such as Beerus have actively undergone training to utilize Ultra Instinct, in truth, the act of getting into the right state of mind to use it is completely antithetical to their nature as Gods of Destruction, which is why they have their own Divine Technique.

My mind is always on destruction and nothing else. That's why there's no limit to my power.

This technique is the ability to use a special kind of God Ki entirely unique to them called the Energy of Destruction, with which they can use the Hakai ability to destroy anything down to a molecular level, making it arguably the strongest offensive technique in the franchise's history. To use it for himself, Vegeta unlocked his Ultra Ego form.

Realizing that he will never surpass his limits due to his obsession with surpassing Goku, Vegeta casts away the need to do so. Once he abandoned the pursuit of Ultra Instinct and embraced his unique strengths as a warrior, Vegeta underwent training with Beerus, the result of which was the Ultra Ego form.

The Major Drawbacks Of Ultra Ego

Ultra Ego proved to be one of the strongest transformations and powers that the series has ever produced. During their fight with Granolah, the Cerealian managed to one-shot Mastered Ultra Instinct Goku but was entirely overwhelmed by Ultra Ego Vegeta's insane strength, which forced him to shatter through his own limits to unlock a form that could still only match the Saiyan Prince's ultimate state.

However, this fight proved that Ultra Ego is far from perfect and actually has some major disadvantages despite seemingly being stronger than Ultra Instinct. The greatest caveat to the form is its special property. Where Ultra Instinct allows the user's body to autonomously avoid taking damage, Ultra Ego completely welcomes it.

This is because Ultra Ego uses the damage that the user takes as fuel to make their subsequent offense much stronger, meaning the more Vegeta is hurt in this form, the greater his succeeding attack will be. While this sounds very impressive, the truth is that there is no means of mitigating the damage that he takes, so its possible for the Saiyan prince to take too much damage in battle, which can cause him to pass out or even die at the hands of his enemy.

This was seen in his ultimate battle against Granolah. Despite being stronger than Mastered Ultra Instinct Goku at the start, the lack of refinement Vegeta had in this form showed all the damage that he took to accumulate to the point where it was too much for him to handle, which is why he was finally matched by Granolah.

The Technique of the Destroyers

When Ultra Ego debuted in the Granolah arc, the form was loved by many fans, although it did draw some criticism due to its functionality, or lack thereof. Critics expressed that the idea was completely ridiculous since the open invitation of harm done to the user could only ever lead to them eventually succumbing to their injuries.

However, the potential strength of Ultra Ego shows that Vegeta may have been on to something. When it was used against Granolah, it was the first instance of Vegeta even going Ultra Ego, which meant that this was the first time he had been actively using it in battle. As it was the first time he had wielded it, it could be called an unrefined version of the transformation, similar to Ultra Instinct Sign Goku, who was only able to utilize half of Ultra Instinct's kit.

A God of Destruction taught me that power derived solely from instinct is unbounded!

By that metric, it stands to reason that Vegeta will only grow stronger the more he uses this technique and the more he will refine it to be as effective as possible, just as what Goku was able to do with Ultra Instinct. One such way is to make Vegeta far more durable while in this state.

In the Moro arc, Goku showed an immense level of durability and resilience with his Mastered Ultra Instinct state by hardening his body to such a degree that even a villain as powerful as Moro ended up breaking his hand when he punched the Saiyan. Similarly, if Vegeta were to do something similar, it would essentially mean that he would be getting all the advantages of Ultra Ego without any of the drawbacks.

Dragon Ball: 5 Strongest Piccolo Techniques, Ranked

Piccolo is one of the strongest and most talented fighters in Dragon Ball, so let's take a look at his strongest techniques!

With better Ki control and durability, Vegeta's growth in the midst of battle would theoretically be limitless, since he would continuously invite damage onto himself without even being hurt by it. In doing so, his strength and subsequent counter-attack would be utterly devastating for his opponent.

As it stands, Vegeta is arguably the hardest-hitter of the five main heroes already, an achievement which has undoubtedly been bolstered by his brand-new Destroyer form. When mastered, Ultra Ego's strength will truly be off the charts due to his unmatched destructive output, and making use of the body-hardening trait of Ultra Instinct to get even stronger by taking damage would make the Saiyan prince a warrior whom perhaps no other mortal could stand against.
