The light anime Lock Zone: Level X has announced that it will have a second season. In addition to announcing a sequel, a new PV for the anime was released along with a free color manga. Lockdown Zone level X was originally a web novel that has been published since 2017, and was adapted into an anime series for the first time this fall. The announcement of a second season was made shortly after the final episode of season one aired.
The news originally came via the series' X (formerly Twitter) account, along with the PV for the upcoming sequel. There is very little information yet on when the sequel will be released, but it is likely that it will continue to be produced by the same studio with the same cast. At the time of publication, the PV and X post was all the information that had been officially shared.

The trip off Lock Zone: Level X
From web novel to anime
When Lockdone Zone: Level X started in 2017, it was just a web novel published in a manga and light novel app called peep. The original story was written by Romy Oishi. That web novel was then adapted into a manga by meshe, published from July 2020 to March 2022. In the same year, it also became a web series adapted by taskey STUDIO. Finally, Lock Zone: Level X was adapted into a light anime in 2024, which aired from September 6 to October 12 on CBS Television in Japan.
The manga is available in English by Denpa, who describes the plot as (via AniTrendz),
Ryoka is woken up by a flurry of texts from her mother! In a panic and rush, Mom is obviously concerned for Ryoka's safety, but she's not too keen on letting her daughter know why. Her reasoning is that nothing can really describe what is happening!
The world might end! And there could be a massive new life form on the roof of their apartment building!
By October 24th, apppeep will release 20 full color manga chapters for Lock Zone: Level X in Japanese, all of which will be available for free. It is likely that they will be translated in due course, possibly by Denpa, and then be available in English as well to keep fans happy until more news regarding the sequel.

7 Isekai Light Novels to Catch Up Before They End
Many light novels are serialized and adapted into anime or manga; these are some you should try.
What is a “Light Anime?”
What sets it apart from a regular anime
Lock Zone: Level X is considered a “light anime”, which is not the same as a regular anime series. Light anime are often shorter and consist of fewer episodes than a full series would normally have. Light anime is also easier to animate, costs less money to produce while taking less time. Lock Zone: Level X is currently the third light anime to be produced by studio AnimationID. The previous two projects were Moriarty's perfect crime and Maarui Kanojo to Zannen na Kareshiwhich was also released in 2024.
Light anime may be something that has become more prevalent in the anime industry. As the industry continues to grow and produce more and more anime, having a way to create shorter, cheaper series faster will likely become popular. Anime series now take a lot of time and money to produce, and not all shows are successful enough to generate the income needed. If a series likes Lock Zone: Level X can be successful, it could be the start of a new trend in the industry.
