Father Father West has exploded into the FPS world, and you can now jump into relentless cowboy mayhem. The game loop is very similar to something similar Helldivers 2where the goal is to get in, complete objectives, loot and get out alive.
Some key differences mean that players will need to learn a lot of new mechanics and tricks to give themselves a better chance of success on the desert plain. Below we share some beginner tips Father Father West that helped us get started.

Far Far West: Best Spell Combos
Become a master of spell combinations in Far Far West to display incredible power and tackle every situation with ease.
Quickfire game tips
-
Healing Bottles are always found next to targets, bosses and often in chests.
-
Both ammo stash and heals can be consumed on the go, so there's no need to slow down while running away.
-
Most targets will drop a Joker, making them a good pit stop in front of the boss.
-
Wishing wells can be a great way to get a lot of currency, but be careful with bad results.
-
Nuke enemies can one-shot, but they're also great wave cleaners, so take them out from a distance.
-
Use spelling combinations.

Understanding spelling systems
Once players finish the tutorial, or if they're feeling brave and decide to skip it, they'll find themselves in the warm embrace of the salon, effectively the hub of the entire game. There's a lot to unpack, so players should start by talking to all the highlighted NPCs and learning exactly what each one does.
Each NPC is divided into a specific role, so players know what they are for right from the start. There is an NPC for spells, charge-ups, hero upgrades, cosmetics, and even games (for those who are a little lucky). There's also a handy shooting range for testing spells and weapons.
The best way to get gold
Get rich quick for charging upgrades
There are many sources of gold within Father Father Westbut the best method is to look for gold veins dotted around the maps and focus on completing side objectives within a run, as both of these sources give the player around 50 extra gold for very little effort at all.
The upgrade costs can become quite substantial over time. It's a good idea to focus on gold as early as possible, to stock up for when you're ready to load up your gear and make the best possible charge to increase your survivability.
Understanding wildcards
Pick a card, any card
Jokers can be found as temporary buffs in missions and as permanent ones that can be attached to a specific gun or the player themselves, for some nice passive bonuses. These come in multiple tiers, and form the other primary source of advancement outside of passive ammo capacity and damage upgrades.
A few wildcards worth noting:
-
Legendary: Gain attack speed for every 50 damage dealt in a single run (5 slots)
-
Normal: counters falling damage (1 slot)
-
Prime: chance to fire explosive shots (3 slots)
Jokers can be bought with Souls, a currency that players will earn a lot from completing quests and killing enemies. Each level varies in price, from 50 all the way up to over 1000, but there is a different limit to which can be used at a specific time.
The player's character and their weapon have a limited number of Joker slots, which can be increased over time, so if they currently have seven open sockets, then they can choose to equip a three-slot and a four-slot, or any combination of other numbers below that limit. If players are not satisfied with their current set, they can sell Jokers for a small number of souls, again depending on the rarity.
The higher level jokers are locked by levels at the start, but players can still jump ahead using the Gamba machine, to hopefully high-roll and maybe sneak in some legendaries long before they actually unlock them (if they're also willing to risk low-rolling).
Mission Select
Picking these premiums wisely
-
Understand mission lines and different areas
-
Choose the right difficulty level based on current strength
Exploring the city is obviously great fun, but at some point players have to get down to business and actually start shooting bad guys. Each region has its own separate quests, collectibles and in-game bosses, and the specific icons clearly show which players have cleared and which difficulties.
This makes it so much easier to decide where to go next. If players have completed a mission and even grabbed all the items on the map, they are more than welcome to move on and explore another location with a whole new set of tasks and threats.

Map out a route that makes sense
The first time players load into a mission, they'll see a handy map with a bunch of different icons on it, ranging from objectives to PvE host pots. The basic gameplay loop revolves around going from the main objective to the boss and then to the extraction zone, but as the map shows, there's so much more to do than just the primary path.
One of the most important icons to track are the NPC quests, as these require multiple runs to fully clear, so ticking them off one by one will greatly speed up the unlocking process. Then there are the question marks, which represent small objectives with a puzzle or mini-game to clear, giving the player a nice gold injection and even a joker if they're lucky.
There are many other points of interest and items that are unmarked, such as the wishing wells and music records, so players must pay attention and rely on both the map in their pocket and the eyes in their head.
Explore the map and prioritize side objectives before the boss
From point A to B
-
Complete side activities in the world
-
Find collectibles like music records
To maximize the loot and XP players get from each run, they'll want to plan out a mini-route to follow that ensures they advance missions, grab items, and avoid backtracking as much as possible, because while there's no time limit, getting in and out quickly is the best way to go.
Gold and soul potential can be increased by focusing on side activities between the main ones. Players can shoot down a hut and get an injection of souls, then jump over to a generator and power it up for a nugget. No matter what locations are on your map, you should do them before the boss.
When the area looks bone dry with no loot left, players can head over to the boss and use the extra jokers they found along the way to make things much easier, especially in solo parties.
So, what's next?
Once you have a handle on the basics, the world really is your oyster. As for the best path to progress, completing the quests in each area is a pretty safe way to progressas they not only provide bonus XP but also unlock additional locations for players to explore.
There's a lot to unlock, from the spells to the jokers to the weapons, so there's no rush, and players should focus on what they find fun and interesting, rather than trying to optimize the game.
But for those who want to fast-track their way to the endgame, the difficulty slider will be your friend, which the more difficult missions bring more rewardsand as a result, a stronger cowboy on the other side.
