No Man's Sky has a universe full of things to explore, almost all of which have still never been seen by another human, ever. Its ever-expanding (and ever-updating) universe stays fresh, but you'll need to craft, build and explore to stay at your best.

No Man's Sky: How To Get Faecium
Farming in No Man's Sky needs fertilizer, and that means you'll need Faecium.
One of the resources you will need to find regularly in No Man's Sky is salt. Salt, alone, is used for quite a few different crafting recipes and can be refined into something completely different. It is also used as an ingredient to refine into a plethora of other resources, making it a base ingredient.
How to get salt
Fortunately, salt is a fairly easy ingredient to obtainand on a planet where salt exists, you can probably get a lot of it.
Water planets
Planets that have quite a lot of water on them generally also have a lot of salt on themalso. It is easy to tell if a planet has large concentrations of salt available on it from space; from your spaceship, scan the planet, and it will show the most abundant resources available.
Not all planets with water have water all over the globe. It may be helpful to locate a large body of water from space and descend into the atmosphere from thererather than landing on the planet and searching for water from within the atmosphere. Depending on how far from the water you land, this can take much longer.
Go underwater and start scanning the minerals around. Many of them will include salt in one way or another, either as a primary or secondary resource from collecting the mineral. Use your mining laser to get the salt and whatever else the mineral provides.
How to make salt
Salt can also be is created in a refiner in two different ways.

Chlorine, oxygen, and dihydrogen are all other resources that you can find as you explore the universe. IN chlorine case, it is also the refined version of saltbut if you've accidentally refined too much salt into chlorine, that's a mistake you can reverse.
Buys salt from Galactic Trade Terminals
Salt can too sometimes purchased from Galactic Trade Terminalslocated in space stations. This will not always be the case, and will vary station by station, as will the price of the salt, if available.
Salt's availability in the Galactic Trade Terminal does not correlate with salt being in the system.
Mineral extractors can also be used to collect saltand at a regular rate without requiring constant maintenance. They will need power to work and will need to be used on a deep mineral deposit of saltwhich can be found by using a Analysis visor with the help of Investigative upgrade.
What is salt used for?
The raw form of salt is used for quite a few different things; primarily it is used in a refiner to create more consistently useful resourceslike glass.
