Metal Coat is an item in Pokemon Legends: ZA which increases the force of the movements of the steel type holder. In addition, Metal Coat plays an important role in the evolution of two Pokémon, which is probably why most players want to get their hands on it. There is only one metal coating that can be obtained before rolling Pokemon Legends: ZAs credits, and it's not even available until very near the end. As such, players should not expect to have both Steelix and Scissors in their squad until after the match.

Side missions

There are two side quests that give a metal coating when completed. The first is Side Quest 101: Steady as Steelthat becomes available during main mission 35near the end of Pokemon Legends: ZAs story. The other is Side Quest 114: A Feather from Skarmoryand players can start it after beating the game.

Vendor

After completion Pokemon Legends: ZAtwo new vendors will appear inside Racine construction. These vendors sell a variety of items, and players can purchase Metal Coats from the one on the left for 4,980 Poke Coins each.

Infinite ZA Royale

Once you beat the game, you gain access to Infinite ZA Royalewhich allows you to repeatedly exchange Challenger's Tickets for battles that reward different items. For the uninitiated, here's how to perform these evolutions:

  1. Select the Pokemon, in a box or the current batch, and select the “give an item to hold” option.

  2. Select Metal Coat from the Other Items tab.

  3. Navigate to the menu (press X) and select Link Playback.

  4. Select Link Trade and then Faraway Players.

  5. State Pokemon Legends: ZA Community-agreed link code for these two Pokémon (0197-0197 for Onix and 0176-0176 for Scyther).

  6. After connecting with another player, select your Onix/Scyther to perform the trade and initiate evolution.
