Unlike previous games in the series, espionage has weighted into the diplomatime mechanic in Civilization 7. There is no longer a need to produce spies, or devote resources to espionage measures outside to spend your influence to adopt subterfuge and defend yourself against enemies.

How does espionage work?

- Choose espionage action – For more information about how each espionage action works, keep the mouse pointer or reticel over the action. The impact cost is shown to the right of the action.
Remember, Not all espionage measures are available at the beginning. Keep your science and cultural production high so that you can investigate specific technology and citizens who will unlock more measures.

- Progress of technical and civic trees – If you strike behind science or culture, use espionage even the playing field.
